Other than a slight drone @ 1500rpm, I wouldn't have mine any other way. Stock is just plain too quiet. This thing isn't that loud at all unless you are really getting on it. You "it's too loud" guys are too old

just taking out the muffler and putting in a straight piece of 4" in its place.

they kinda made it sound like it wouldn't be much louder, but then they said "those trucks need to breathe"

i just dont want to loose any mpg.

You won't loose MPG just by removing the muffler (you MIGHT gain a fraction) but you just might loose some due to the fact that it is so hard NOT to put your right foot down.

Trust me you will lose mpg, only because you won't be able to keep your foot off of the pedal. I did mine and love it. EGTs are lower and the turbo will spool up faster, but I have learned to set the cruise and just let them go by. If you can stay off the throttle, it does seem to help. As for noise i was afraid of that myself. I basically live in my truck. I am a communications tech. and it is nothing for me to drive 4 hours just to change a cord. Most of the time the cruise is set at 78 and I have no problems or complaints about noise while on the phone. Overall I am happy.

As far as I know, no. Especially in Texas. Maybe in Cali, but who wants to live there

Mine sounds good, no drone driving unloaded. LOUD with heavy trailer going up hill. BTW no smog/inspection at all for diesel pickups in CA.
