Straight piped in So Cal?

Who is straight piped here in California? Have you been pulled over due to excessive noise? If so what was the outcome? I'm wanting it louder but not at the expense of being pulled over.

I'm thinking of changing out the exhaust elbow to 4" and running 4" pipe all the way back. Would love to hear one first before pulling the trigger.

Thanks.
Rick.

I am! Dual 5'in stacks to be exact! I have been pulled over. I was getting on the freeway and the Smokey said he could hear me over the peterbuilt in the slow lane. He just gave me a fix it ticket, $10.00. I slapped the muffler on, got it signed off, and the strangest thing happened. The muffler is missing again, must have fallen off?? Contact "Dieseljunkie" his 3rd gen is straight piped. He's in San Bernadino. Were are you?

I'm straight piped in Nor-Cal. It is by no means quiet. Its an 03 so it really is straight pipe since there was no cat to start with. It also got louder since the Smarty. It really crack's the sound barrier between 2,200-2,600rpm.

Never onece got pulled over due to the sound. Its a basic rule of thumb, dont got WOT in front of the law. Sound is controlable with your right foot. I drive right in front of cops all the time, just be easy on the throttle.

I would most likely get a ticket if I ever got caught in 4th gear at 2,400 rpm at WOT though.

Just use your head

Thanks for the info "Buckshot". I live in Riverside County. Right around the corner from San Bernadino. I'll pm "Dieseljunkie". Maybe we can hookup so I can get an earfull.

Been going back and forth with my decision between straight pipe and a 34" Donaldson. I'm thinking I'll go with the straight pipe and If I don't like it, I'll add a muffler. But, It would be nice to hear it first.

Anyone with pics of their straight pipe exhaust?

Rick

Thanks Dan. I'm feeling better about doing it.
From what I have read, most that straight pipe live in more rural areas than I do and can get away with it.
Good to know that if I take it easy it's not obnoxious. Sometimes I want obnoxious though. I'm thinking this is the way to go.

I am in South Orange County and run a 6" set-up. Been pulled over by commercial traffic enforcement. No ticket! it definitely gets their attention and if they were having a bad day I am sure I would be the unlucky one out of a group.
