Yep I did not sure it makes a big dif. since its 4" strait thru but well worth the 80 bucks to have done muff delete. Now I'm afraid if I would remove res. I'd get loader for daily driving.

My '03 couldn't be any more stock. There is NO WAY I'd remove the cat, but could possibly gut it. I could do a homemade muffler deleat pretty easy.

The reason I'm even asking is that the exhaust sounds very "whooshy" at idle.

And anything that helps my mpg makes me smile!

I might be able to help, I did just a muffler delete on my 06, its stock otherwise with a liner in the bed(figured this might actually aid in noise insulation) and I like the sound w/o the muffler. Sounds pretty stock at idle but once you open it up it sounds pretty mean. I have driven it a little at 65-70 and there is not to much drone but a tad. The inside resonation under acceleration is kind of annoying at times(especially when the engine is cold). I feel like the throttle response is a tad better but my mileage hasn't really changed.
Buy a muffler delete pipe, drive it, see if you like it and if not put the old one back on.

FYI, i put a sound meter on it before and after and the only real change was under acceleration w/ a load. Changes the tone more than anything i think.

Don't forget guys, I have already done a cat. delete. Now I'm thinking about doing the muffler delete too. I wish I had just left the cat. and done a muffler delete. But, I did a cat. delete to get some sound out of the Banks setup. It helped but, it's very quite driving. I'm just looking for some more sound. So, that's where the idea of a muffler delete with the cat. delete came in for a full straight piped exhaust with duals. Very hard decision for me.

On my to do list is a hunk of muffler pipe approx. the same length as where the muffler will be cut out, and a couple good wrap clamps to seal it up.

I imagine the cat will tame it enough not to be too annoying.

a straight piped 04.5 or newer is gonna sound the same as a straight piped 06, I run 5" also with a muffler and I like the way it sounds. you can run the straight pipe setup with a stock turbo and its not that bad but when you get an aftermarket turbo the drone is horrible. I run the exhaust from diesel performance systems but a different muffler because it wouldnt work with the exhaust. I have a diamond eye muffler I got from a member on here and I like alot. it has a deep tone and took almost all of the drone from the cab
