Stock Injectors vs Aftermarket (attn: DonM)

I am considering injectors, and I know these trucks love it when a downloader and a pressure box is combined. From reading here, stock injectors do not like additional pressure added.

question #1: Do the stock injectors not like the added pressure because of the inadequate filtering of the 10 and 7 micron filters? Doe sthe small particles that are not removed do most of the damage? So what if we installed a 2 micron filtering kit? I know this will give you better filtering and will remove a lot more of the harsh stuff, but would it actually make stock injectors live longer?

question #2: Are aftermarket injectors as vulnerable to pressure boxes as stock injectors?

What injectors are reccommended with a SMARTY and lets say an MP-8 stack??

Very good questions. I was on the phone with DDP and F1 but I do not feel comfortable quoting the conversations. But from what I understand is that it is the injector body that causes the issue. I would recommend that you call these folks and hear the info first hand.

I believe that the pressure itself cracks the stock injector bodies- not necessarily any contaminants. So 2 micron filtering will not help failure due to pressure.

Don advertises that his Flux 1 injectors are good to go with pressure boxes.

You need to ask Don about what he reccomends if you're planning on running a modded cp3 and a pressure box. I think that the combo creates too much pressure.

Someone chime in if I'm wrong...

I think the pressure with the dirt cracks the bodys. Trys to blow the dirt thru the tip wont go something has to give at high pressue. Yes you do need 2 micro filter when running pressure. better safe then sorry.

ksi = 1000 psi

k stands for kip, which is 1000 lbs.

So saying 20,000 ksi is the same as 20,000,000 psi. 20 ksi is 20,000 psi.

Sorry I was being a engineering nerd...

Pauly explained it perfectly....

I could have been worse and said keep your rail at 3,600,000 - 3,744,000 psf.

To answer about factory rp, mine has spiked over 25k befor with no added pressure. Not very likely to happen and if it does, its not often but it can happen.

well, i guess a rail pressure gauge will be on my mod list now..

Still would like to hear from the injector designers of what they think the most common cause is, and what kind of modifications can we do as individuals to help pro-long our stock parts or even some of yalls after market parts..

I was told by DDP that I should absolutely add one of these to my truck to protect the injectors.

If you have a bracket, or you can mount the filter head to a 4" square area on your drivers side floorboard, between the frame rail and the front drive shaft. Just pull the insulation below back and pull your carpet back and you'll see where I'm talking about. It will take 4- 1 1/2" x 3/8" bolts.
