do not clamp off the wastegate it drastically shortens the life. there is two easy ways to do the solenoid the easiest is to find a ignition hot wire and simply turn on the solenoid when the ignition is on. the best way is to cut the solenoid open and convert to fixed if you go this route pm me with your email address and i can send pix of how to mod i used my lathe but a dremel will work

Finally got around to installing the HE351 on my 2003. Install was fairly easy, it is overall larger as you can see in the photo's. Be watchful on the mounting studs, the longer ones don't work so well, won't tighten up due to manifold thickness. I replaced oil drain gasket and turbo to manifold gasket, was a whole $5 from Cummins store. I'm seeing 35-36 psi of boost, tried adjusting my elbow only to find it is seized up and won't turn, tried to save $12 and it bit me... Oh well need to order new or leave it as is. With Arson III and Smarty Jr on level 2 also installed the results are impressive with the limted miles I have put on the truck, EGT's didn't seem to drop as much as I thought they would but I have not towed yet and probably won't until the spring.

I've been running with my wastegate hose clamped off for about a year now WITH ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEMS!!! If you are really putting a lot of fuel to your truck then I would agree that the wastegate needs to be able to open but on a slightly modified truck that never makes more than 45psi clamping the line is fine...

So tell me exactally how did this effect the proformance of your truck? Quicker spool-up, more torque low end, mid range, or top end. I am looking to get more torque out of my 03 from about 1000 to 2000 rpm level, did this help you in that range? Thanks

You feel the power more on the top end. I have no dyno results to answer your question though...

I will let you know when I get some miles on it, I hope it is what Dodgezilla had to say plus some lower EGT's.

I have a really nice larger turbo elbow with the clamps that I will sell you. That's a start..

And since I'm thinking about it. When my truck was on the dyno I turned the power adders all the way off so all I had for mods was my turbo w/ larger elbow, full 4" exhaust, and my BHAF. I also had some boost fooling even though the boxes were off. I gained 75ft/lb of torque over stock with these mods. HP stayed the same though. Now, I should also say that I am still running the stock canister mounted LP and with the VA box on high you could hear that the LP was not keeping up. You couldn't hear it with the box off but it may have still affected the power level.
Moral: 75 ft/lb of torque is worth it......

As you can see in the 3rd picture above, my downpipe is a Banks and connects directly to the turbo, does not quite measure a true 4" but definitely way better than the stock cast elbow. I would like to find a dyno close to my location and have a run on it, it would be interesting to say the least.

I ran that Banks Downpipe on my 03 truck way back when. I got tired of replacing that stupid gasket everytime I had the downpipe off! That's for sure....

So you need the shorter mounting studs instead of the factory ones?
