Stacks with DPF still intact
Stacks with DPF still intact
I've been searching high and low for stacks and have found kits that say they are " Long Bed Specific " and are DPF Back kits. Does anyone know of any kit for the short beds that are a DPF back kit? I need to keep my DPF installed as I live in California and dont want to 1) lose my warranty and 2) be screwed when/if I have to have it smogged/inspected one day. I want to run 6'' stacks. Any ideas?
we put 1 in a friends truck and it is tight an 08 3500. if i remeber right there are 2 cross members on the frame you'll have to go between and it will set the stacks back in the bed 4-6 inches away from the front of the bed. we actually just used grand rocks regular 4 kit and it works. i dont recomend running a flat top or miter cut stack unless you can be real faithfull with your buckets or put some flappers on it. we had flat tops on his truck and 1 normal rain storm it set off a sensor and put the moistier in the pdf to 80% and from what i have read and talked to the dealler if it goes over 80% the system needs to be replaced and will no longer functionand the truck will go into limp mode and the dealer wont warrenty it because its not there fault.
As far as stacks are concerned, theres no kit thats long bed specific...the length of the bed doesnt matter, as the stacks come up behind the back of the cab anyways...
As for the braces. You could run them up behind the front crossmember, but then you have a big gap between the stacks/front of bed/back of cab, and in my opinion looks rediculously aweful and ruins them. Just cut out part of the front crossmember and run the stacks right up along the front of the bed, so there isnt a gap between the very front of the bed and the stacks. Running stacks, you wont have any weight on the front of the bed (99% you wouldnt have weight up there even without stacks) so its not going to weaken it or reduce the weight you can carry...
As for piping, just run the exhaust either direct from the end of the DPF or back aways and then 90 degree back forward and then up into the bed. The end of the DPF is behind the front of the bed, so it has to kick back towards the front. Unless you want a horrendous gap...

And, according to GR Pipes website they dont list a kit for the 6.7 CTD
http://www.grpipes.com/powerflow.asp
I dont know why they would list for a longbed only. The bedkit and stacks are the same, regardless of whether its for a Dodge, Ford, or GM, from what Ive seen. Only difference would be if you got pipe from the turbo back, then youd obviously have different downpipes between the three, and also different lengths from regular cabs, to quad cabs, to Mega cabs.
So for a 6.7, just get the bedkit and stacks. Then youll have to make the underbed part, or have an exhaust shop do it
