SP Diesel Eliminator Installed!

Well I got my standard Eliminator yesterday. The install was pretty easy, but I haven't decided where to put the dial yet. It was raining yesterday so when I *tried* to test drive it in the higher settings my rear end just broke free (at 60! ) but today on the way back from work I opened it up for a little bit. Tell you what, I've never driven a bombed diesel before and it sure gets up and goes like a rocket! Went from 60 to 80 faster than I could blink

My only problem now is the EGTs. I haven't gotten around to modding the air box or straight piping (soon!) so I've got bone stock intake/exhaust, and the EGTs spiked to 1450 pretty **** fast on the highest setting. Seems like the EGTs are actually lower than "normal" when in the economy mode, and when in the higher modes @ WOT my turbo never got above 25psi, which is wierd because it used to hit 32psi pretty easy. Guess I really do need to open up that airbox!

All-in-all I think I'll like it. The power is pretty smooth throughout, and the extra power makes "darting" in and out of traffic in a 3 1/2 ton truck a little easier

good to hear!, Im giving serious thought to getting one of these pretty soon.

one question, do you have to mount the box/circuit board somewhere easily accessible and/or visible?

any codes?

thanks
Jeff

Where are you measuring boost? Are you sure you aren't measuring fooled boost? Do you have a mechanical boost gauge measurement? careful.... have fun

They say to mount the box so you can see it (there are two LEDs) but mine is under the dash so I can only see it when I have my head on the floor. Easy to reach for the switch though

I am measuring boost via my X-monitor. The boost is measured at the manifold, where you replace one of the bolts w/ the supplied bolt from BD. I think I'm just not getting as much boost because I have to let off the go-pedal so soon due to high EGTs. It was over 90 today too, so I'm sure that didn't help the pyro!

4x4not,

Glad to see you got things installed and things are running well. You should be seeing more the 25psi of boost with the box with your gauge tapped into the manifold, unless the boost controller portion of the box got turned down accidently.

To calibrate the boost setting, go ahead and start your truck up, flip the switch on the box up (valet mode/ boost setup mode), rotate the power **** full clockwise, wait a second, without changing the **** position flip the switch on the box back down to normal mode. This should calibrate your box to put out a max of 40-45psi at the higher power levels.

Now reselect the power level of your choice, and have fun. The boost level can be calibrated using the method described above at anytime on the fly between 25psi and 45psi depending on the **** selection during setup.

Thanks SP Diesel... I'll try that and test it out tomorrow.

It was great, I got the funniest look from a guy in a Mercedes who tried to pass me. I was doing about 55 (speed limit) and he came up behind me doing around 80. I floored it and boy did the speedo jump up QUICK He tried a couple more times but I just kept blocking him (not in an unsafe way) and when he did get next to me in traffic he had this look on his face that said "How the HELL did a truck that size move that fast?!?"
