Southbend in, hard to get into reverse & granny
Hello all. Like it says. I had my 3250 DD put in. It is just a tad louder than stock at idle w/pedal out & inn neutral. Engagement is nice. A little different than stock, but totally fine, even for the little wife to drive. Only trouble is getting the trans into reverse or granny. I have started putting the truck into 4th-3rd-2nd-1st-then reverse. That way it goes in easily. I do have the hyd. upgrade. The washer behind the pivot ball was removed as directed. The pedal is adjusted pretty high.
Besides this one thing, it is a very streetable clutch.
Any ideas?
Thanx.

Ya mine doesnt go into any gear smooth anymore. I drove alot today tring to get some miles on it, its not getting any better. only had 80-100 miles when i called peter a told him about it. Now around 500+ miles, when letting my pedal out the clutch starts to grab only maybe 1/4 travel from floor, or couple inches off the floor. Almost like the rod nees to be longer. I have the nv tranny wich isnt supp. to need the upgrade. Ive heard you and others talk about mounting the M.Cyl. but it hasnt made sense to me. Need picture. Since theres a rod coming from the pedal to the M.C. i dont see how it could mount anywhere besides in the factory location. And i read were some are tieing it up to brake lines and such? If you dont mind could you explain. Thanks

I have about 5K on the same clutch, it is still a little funny about going into Reverse. It's all most like it WANTS to engage very slowly? My wife has to use two hands, one overtop of the other (which is funny to see).
I don't know, mine grabs really high in the stroke, I mean, she's engaged, but it is quite different from stock the way it engages.

Matter of fact, when we first got mine in I was REAL worried about how grabby and stiff it was. I would say that in about 5-600 miles it calmed down nicely.
(but still have the reverse "issue") Seems like it's more in the synchronizers to me, although I acknowledge that couldn't really be the problem.

The upgraded hydraulics are separate. Mine is still rigged up with zip ties, need to borrow someones right angle drill to mount the reservoir.

Anyway, I think that may be what you are reading. The master cylinder itself turns a half turn (at least on the newer trucks) into the firewall, that is it as far as mounting that part of it.
I have the same issue (if you want to call it that) and my clutch has at least 10k on it. If I want to go into 1st with is pertty rare as I usuall take off in 2nd or if I want to go to reverse I just put it in 3rd or 4th then over to the gear I want.
As bnold said, welcome to the world of DDs. I think its just the nature of the beast.

OK, I tried this last night when I drove for basically like 30 seconds from one parking spot to another. This worked like butter.
Thanx.
I was wondering, has anyone changed out the fluid in their G-56 in hopes of smoother shifting? If so, what were your results.........
