Thumbs down Smoking is bad for your health...

I mean, I don't smoke (anymore), but my truck has been lately. Not the good thick black stuff, either.

I'm pretty sure I have an injector sticking, I'm getting some white smoke at very low throttle, or when I let off after very low throttle. It'll roll like a fogger truck, but if I blip the throttle, it stops. Won't do it until the engine is up to temp, either.

It started up after my cross country trip, must have gotten some bad fuel somewhere. All my filters are good, I cut the one I used cross country open and it looked good, and the water sep was clean.

I'm watching my oil level and smell, it's good, and my fuel mileage is good as well... hence the sticky injector vice broken.

I filled my AD filter up with power service when I changed it, but don't think I got enough in there. I'm going to dump a big bottle in the tank when this tank gets lower...

If it doesn't clear up after that, I guess Don M is going to get some more of my money. Time to give up and buy an injector puller on ebay... maybe while I'm at it I'll get a barring tool, too. Just to be cool like that.

I was hoping to wait for my first injector refresh until I was ready to do some turbo work, but it's not looking good. I'm not going to complain, I put these in at 30k-ish used, and I'm over 100k now... it's been a hard 70k miles, too

If anything jumps out at anyone, or you're thinking something different, I'm all ears, cause I don't know it all.

The new trend is to get all new genuine Bosch injectors (NON REMAN) if your sticks are around or over 100k total miles. The problem is the tight tolerances and high pressures along with no way to get perfect fuel.
I will say I have had a few sets of F1s and Don does top notch work, but when I get to that point again I want to start fresh with new genuine Bosch sticks. JMO.

For the money extra to get new sticks with flowed nozzles on them far outweigh the cost of the possible failure and cost attributed. If your nozzles could be re-used after being tested that would be even better. Just not sure if you have new or old style, and the whole compatability of the puck and collar vs the old school design.

Again this is just my thought.

I had not even given thought to doing that... 1200+ bucks isn't something I want to drop on my truck at the moment, and it's painful to think about!

They are my original injector bodies with some used 2.5 nozzles on them. I traded a guy my stock tips and Don swapped them out for me.

It is something to think about...

How does it idle cold?
You might just have one that is acting up, and maybe a heavy PS cleaning it might clear up.
I really hate the HPCR injector, its a four letter word around my house. They are a pain and the only way to really check them is pull them and have them tested.
The fact Bosch/Cummins/Dodge released these trucks with 7 micron fuel filters and now say they want a number which is not possible, in fact 3 micron is only available with aftermarket Fuel filter bases and Cat/Donaldson filters is straight Bullhockey.
Then they up rail pressure which also makes things worse, .

It's half and half. Some days it's perfect, some days make me want to buy a fluid dampener.

I'm almost thinking about running some K1... thin that stuff out a little.

I do think it's just one acting up.

I had a truck that was doing this, at least it sounds exactly the same. I replaced filters and ran cleaners and everything, but sold it because event he mechanics couldn't figure it out as it did it intermittently. The guy that bought it called me 2 days later. He replaced the lift pump, problem solved. Needless to say I was ****** for days. So, check the lift pump.

I've got an AD 150 on it with a fuel gauge... stays constant around 17 psi.

Thanks for the idea, tho.

I'm good... maybe for a first gen, but not for a third gen... not for me, at least. Thanks for your suggestion, tho.
