Smarty Tuner

I posted in the non-high performance area originally. My bad. Here is the post again in the correct forum:

I have been reading up on this tuner and it looks to be a pretty good Tuner! People who have or have had this tuner, was wondering if you could give me actual input rather than me reading the bragging rights by the company that sells it.

Was also wondering what kind of monitor you would recommed with this tuner since one isn't offered with it??

I don't have any mods (turbo, injectors, built tranny etc.) except what is posted below. Looks like it would be pretty safe up to the 5 setting, what are your thoughts??

Thanks for the replies! BEAS

IMO...........

All it takes is a search of the archives to see how happy 95% of the Smarty customers are. It's a great programmer with a variety of softwares to choice from.

The softwares are constantly being updated and customer service is top notch.

I don't know that you would want to run on #5 too often. #3 is the safely level recommended on a completely stock truck.

You'll need some gauges which should really be your first purchase. If you'd prefer digital you can look into a Edge Attitude or Bully dog PMT or Quad also has some stuff.

Thinking about attitude, I agree that a monitor or gauges should be my first purchase. Sounds like most monitors do about the same job. I like the idea of a digital one since I can put different read outs on the screen if wanted.

I agree with you about the satisfaction, it looks like a pretty good system and one that can be easily returned to stock for any dealer issues.

Just wondering if the product does actually deliver the performance and MPG as claimed?

You bet it does. I've tried several and the smarty out performed them all as far as downloaders.

This has been my opinion and not all will agree but, for my truck nothing else is made at the moment that's any better.

Do some searches, there's 100's if not 1000's of satisfied customers....and the manufacturer doesn't really advertise (they dont really have to)....they're claims on power are dead on if not understated....mileage wise i dont really see an improvement as i use the power (which is counter to mileage improvement)....and i think that all of the aftermarket power enhancers are the same theoretical mileage savers.....they may save some if you drove normally, but how do you do that when it's so fun to do otherwise....the Smarty rocks....on a stock automatic, the conservative individual should stay on level 3 (that's what i did before i beefed up the trans)....it's awesome at that level 10x's better than stock...but it will make you want more...and more and more until you sell a child to get the rest of the parts. (j/k).....

Marco (the designer) and Bob W (US Distributor) are both awesome as they're on these boards and very helpful with support....they do have time constraints and get a lot of questions so someties it taks a bit, but they're top notch and far superior to the "big" manufacturers....only competition in this regard that i see is "quad" whom i also respect for his presence and the amount of time he's helping the "common" person.

Buy one, you have nothing to loose as you could sell it in the classified's in about 10 minutes if for some strange reason you're in the .0001% that doesnt like the smarty....i doubt you will be, that's typically those with heavily mod'd trucks that have some other sort of an issue.

Forgot about the guage question...i have diprocol optix analogue's...with the quad fp/rp guage, had isspro's in my 05....love'm both, no issues....that being said, that was pre commander (from quad)....i'd get the commander if i had a new truck now....

Good luck and have fun! P.S. I'm not affiliated with either smarty or quad....just been around for a while and had good luck with their products and am very impressed with both companies from a support perspective.

I will keep that in mind, maybe I will install #3 setting and then give to my wife and tell her if I plug in a higher setting I will have to replace my tranny.

That should keep it under lock and key!

Nope... that's what the smarty will do ! Depending on the software you use. Smarty can and will shut down interstates
but, not on #3

well yeah, but even when my truck was stock I could dump smoke. It's the programming more than the mods. The mods just help make more of it
