Is this Smarty tune safe for towing??

I'll be towing only 6-7k 400 miles and I just updated to the newest software. I'm thinking sw5 tq2 tm3 rp1?? Is that too much timing? My tranny has an upgraded vb, billit tc and stronger internals(no billit though).

Timing 4 is the lowest timing above stock. That is what I use while towing to be safe. That is with the latest POD software.

we just pulled 13k over the Sierras and Rockies from CA to Yellowstone on similar program with a similar built truck and it ran great! fuel mileage wasn't too good though, 10 MPG average but that may be do to 70 MPH on I80 with a slight headwind ...

That is true for the TNT. If he's running the Revo then timing 3 is the lowest (other than stock). Timing 4 is the highest. Timing 4 tends to cause issues with the '03-04 models as in timing pops at WOT.

Vault, which program are you running?

Isn't there just Revo and Revo TNT-R now. I was under the impression that the new Revo is the old Revo TNT.

The older Revo software, yes. The latest software changed it to 2-4, highest to lowest for the SO6-POD. The old SO6 software is not being updated anymore. You have to update to SO6-POD to get the latest releases. I am running the latest software and this is how it is. I converted my SO6 to SO6-POD.

Y'all are right. The newest version remapped the timing levels.

I'm stuck with the older version.

Default timing should be fine for towing, but if you want to back it down some then TM3 is where I would go.

After seeing what the OEM timing map looks like you want to be as far from that as possible!

Personally I would drop to SW3 thou, even with the added air of the HE351.

TM2-4 are still greater than stock. Default would be TM2 if using the odd numbers and stock timing if using the even numbers on the Smarty. Not sure what the JR is.

Is SW5 too much for the powertrain while towing or am I going to get better mileage with SW3??

I use the SO-6 on SW5 towing my 5er. Still all original drive train, including clutch.
I tow the 13.5K fiver very conservatively. Keep RPMs on hills above 2000 and downshift when EGTs get above 1050-1100 (start of yellow zone on my Isspro EGT gauge).
ie: Grapevine in 3rd, RPMS btwn 26-2800 and EGTs rock steady at 850-900.
ie: El Cajon grade 4th, RPMs btwn 26-2800 and EGTs steady at 1100.
It's worked for me for over 30K miles towing in the CA mountains.

It's mainly a lack of air from the turbo, especially since I see CO in your sig.

I ran out of air at 350 rwhp at about 5K feet in OD (higher in 5th) with an HE351.

You can try it and see, but watch your EGT's.
