Smarty on SW 9 for Daily Driving?

I’ve progressed from SW 2, 4, 6 and now 8 (hated the timing pinging and rattle on odd # SW). I like the performance of SW 8 but was wondering if it is detrimental to my truck if I leave it on SW 8 all the time. I really don’t get on it as much as some people on this board. If I get on it, I roll into it easy as to prevent smoke belching.

That's strange that you would get timing rattle with not other timing mods. I drive mine around on sw9.

Yep it sounded like a diesel when i had it on odd # SW. I went with the even # and did the tone ring. Not as much timing advance as the Smarty because the pinging and rattle never returned. Do you think leaving it on 8/9 will have ill affect?

Some say there are only so many "hp hours in an engine" but i believe if your egt;s and all other engine perameters are in check go for it, drive it set to where your comfortable with performace and temps are happy.

Mine has been on level 9 for the past 38,000 miles or so. Towing, daily driving, playing, whatever. Seems fine to me.

Some 06's are timing sensitive. I had timing rattle with older versions of Smarty. I ended up running the aftermarket injectors software without timing rattle. Beta 4.4 and 4.11 have been good for my truck. I run stock-stock moderate 4.11 on #9 all the time. Other than the tires hating life now and then , it's been good.

I didn't know there were any other levels! It'll be fine, I'm always on 7 or 9 for years now(from the S04 days)

Hehehe..... May have to try level 9 and see if I can get better fuel economy than on 5, which is pretty good by the way.

I think the theory is that 9 will give you better mileage because of the extra timing that you get. That is if you can keep your foot out of it.

I just updated my smarty... and tried it #9 and when I floored it... for a minute after I lost all the hydraulic pressure in my clutch. Its not completely gone... but normally the clutch is right near the top... when it does this its almost at the floor and hard to push in.
Is that just from draining the rail or what? It did that on #7 before too. I switched it back to 8 now because it doesn't seem to do that on even's....
