when i look in the classifieds here and theres a smarty for around 500 it usually sellls the first day,maybe bob and marco should have a spring sale and put them on for 500 for a month and see how many they sell,it may put a lot of people on the fence over the fence,almost every post ive read people love the tuner just not the price.if they went on sale i would grab one for sure.

 

The cheapest I have seen new ones is $599 plus a couple bucks for shipping, but that is on Ebay. Don't really want to spend that kind of dough and than get something that may or may not work.

 

Don't buy Smarty's on Ebay. There is no warranty by doing that. If the price for a new one is anything below the regular $685 then it's not an authorized dealer and still no warranty. The only way to get one cheap is if it's used and still have the warranty.

 

Or call several members on this board who are authorized distributors and see what price they offer you over the phone. they cannot publish prices but some may cut you a deal. I know i paid ALOT less than $685 and yes mine has a warranty and is an authorized unit.

But that said, you get what you pay for. $600+/- is a good deal for something that does work as advertised. its worth the extra 100 over competitors products

 

Maybe Bob or Marco will step in. I was under the understanding that NO ebay sales and NO selling below MAP pricing of $685 (So6). Someone correct me if I am wrong.

 

That is what I was told by Bob himself. It says right on MADS site that no Ebay sellers have a US warranty. It would need shipped to Italy for repairs, if needed. I am pretty sure they keep track of Smarty serial numbers and which ones go to different dealers.

To be honest, after having my Smarty and seeing the product improvements and customer support I would give over 1k for one if that was the price. Believe me, I HATE paying retail but in this case, it is worth every penny.

a used S 06 went for 450 bux last week, that was a deal, I paid 500 used for mine, that extra 185 bux is already gone and went through the tailpipe.

 

i had a chance to buy one used off ebay too, but knowing there wasnt going to be any warranty, and the chance that it could have been lock still wasnt worth the difference in price. I bought one NEW! $685 and paid overnight shipping to get it to me! im very impatient. Just buy new, heck if you decide to get rid of it one day you can get almost what you paid for it still!

 

I saw a couple on ebay yesterday (S07). Said they were brand new in box with warranty and everything. It also said if you have problems with it to send it back and they would send you a new one within 3-4 day's. Buy it now price was $600 plus shipping. Don't know if it is legit or not.

 

For 600 bones who wants to take the chance if it is legit or not. I even had an opportunity to buy a couple of used ones on the DTR classifieds for 600. I passed on them also because the guys that were selling them didn't have a high enough post count for me. For 85 more bones I got a new one from a dealer and didn't have to worry about it.

 

I'm not taking a chance. I'm fine with what I have right now. I was just browsing ebay to see what they had. Probably will get a smarty though, but later on.

 

As someone else said, there is no difference in buying a used one on Ebay and a used one on DTR.

Only NEW Smarty's shouldn't be purchased on Ebay. Used ones are fine.

 

The difference in dollars isn't anything if you get your truck ECM locked up and need help! Guess what Bob will tell you. The piece of mind is worth the $$$.
