Smarty Jr, setting for MPG

Hi Guys,

I thought I would get everyones opinion on which software program is giving the best mileage when you are driving for mileage unloaded, now that people have been driving with the Smarty Jr for a while. It seems that I get a good bit better mileage, especially at highway speeds, with the #2 tow/70 hp setting over the economy setting ..probably .5 mpg better tow versus econo. I have not used the 100hp setting. From what I have read, all three settings SUPPOSEDLY have about the same timing but I am guessing there must be a little more timing for the 70hp tune to be picking up more mileage. For those interested, for the truck in my signature ,with slightly more highway miles than back road miles I am getting around 18.5 mpg on the tow tune. Would do better (hopefully ,20 is what I want) cruising highway only at 65-70 MPH.

#1 is the econo setting.

I got 19.6 on my last tank with the 100 hp setting. Mix of highway and city driving coasted when i could and all highway driving was right at 70 or less mph overhead read 20.8 so it was close but not quite. stock height stock tires. first time i ever reached 600 miles on a tank with any of the three cummins I have owned.

Setting #1 should be the best since it's only timing, no added duration.

Level's 2 and 3 on the Jr. is timing and duration. Duration is the amount of time the injector stays open. So more fuel is being added.

Jr. + MPG

Tested both level #1 and #2. i get better MPG on #2, plus noticable more power. On # 2, hand cal. at highway speeds of 65-73 get ~ 18.5 -19 MPG.
Afraid to try #3 on stock auto. Only smokes when you gun it hard.

Timing is the relationship between the injector firing and the location of the piston at that given moment.

timing and fueling should be the mpg winner and yes the performance software can be good too

Bob, any chance you or Marco would be able to respond to the message I sent re: Smarty REVO timing (with #4 timing on) vs 4.11 timing? Still curious as to which is higher and roughly how much higher?

Don't be afraid, Steveareno, just be smart about it. I've been running my Jr on the 100 hp setting since it came out, and I stack my Quad X2 when I feel froggy, all while rolling on 37" tires. Stock auto is holding.
