Question Smarty Jr question

Guys I'm looking at buy a smarty JR off craigslist tomorrow. Is there a quick way to test it's functioning correctly? Other than driving the truck to pick it up and downloading it on the spot?

I would definitely hook it to the truck before paying for it. You will know if it is still VIN locked or not right away. As long as it's not VIN locked you should be fine. I would also update it to the latest software if it is not already.

Take care of that transmission unless you're just looking for an excuse to upgrade...

^^^^ This

You will destroy your tranny on SW3 if you leave it there.

My stock trans lasted 120,000 miles on SW3, but I put a Transgo kit in it. The front band went, probably because I didn't change the solenoid like I should have when it began acting up.

I pull a 10,000 lb trailer regularly.

I get my new trans in 6 days! (Funny how the old torque converter is working great now after a good flogging.)

Lost lake I wish mine would have lasted. I only tow several times a year, 4 wheelers outwest elk and turkey hunting. I do not beat on my truck and it just keeps falling apart.

Humm like the tranny at 50k, the entire front end at 60k. 3 set of balljoints, both front hubs. Oh and don't forget above the rear wheels both sides rusted through just before it was 5 years old. And the blend door again, sorry just have to vent. No doubt I will never buy another Dodge. Love my cummins though...

well i got my smarty jr loaded and....uh... is this 7500lb truck suppose to feel like a porsche?!!!!! WOW is all i can say. it came with the latest version and so i uploaded sw2/tq3/tm4 and the power delivery is so smooth its shocking! it reminds me of my 94 lightning in how it accelerates, u pull out on the road, give it some reasonable throttle and instantly u r at 55mph! so smooth! im sure my 4.10s help alot too. havnt put my foot threw the grill yet, (no need it seems to me) but i wanted to say thx to all, i did alot of searches and the feedback was very helpfull. in my searching i found numorous posts saying im fine keeping the rokktech on with the smarty and the truck doesnt rattle at all so thats good too. thx again guys

just a quick question, to confirm the paperwork. tq2 has the least amount of tourque management, the most throttle responsive. and tm4 is the most advanced timing setting. is this correct? and a minny update, this thing is so fun to drive, its almost not fair! also, the jr deffently increases milage. goin to the coast this week so i can get an accurate measurement increase, but just telling by the guage and the amount of miles on this tank so far, its up a fair bit.

I run my Jr on SW1, just loaded it up and left it. The Smarty Jr has been one of my smarter investments.

dudes! another question(hope i get a response on this 1) is the smarty jr really that hard on the auto-trans when the truck is empty? correct me if im wrong, but factory torque management is only in effect in the first 2 gears right? so as long as u arnt puttin your foot threw the grill off the line, couldnt u run the max setting which is sw3/tq2/tm4 empty and put less load on the trans than say pullin my 40 ft toyhauler stock? all replies welcome, thx!
