Smarty Jr. and Previous SW versions
Smarty Jr. and Previous SW versions
I currently have beta 4 on my Jr. and have downloaded Revo and POD on my PC but I have not loaded them yet to the Jr. I want to understand all ramificaitons before I conitnue.
If I load either one (Revo,POD), can I go back to any of my previous beta versions or the original Jr release of Dec. 07? I thought I read somewhere that if you go to Revo and above, you can't go back to previous versions but I am not sure if this was with the Orignal Smarty or the Jr. or both.
On Edit..... I have revo from 10-16-08 507A, R12A
Thanks,
Fixit

Thanks Bob, Again.. I want to understand what I am doing before I do it. You say I won't be able to use earlier software, does that apply to both Revo and POD or just POD?
In the software world.. it's nice to have updates but it is nice to also be fully backwards compatible. I suppose you can get there with the Revo version but I am still trying to figure out what Beta version is what with that code.
Thanks again to you and Marco for improving your product.

So what am I missing.. my truck has not been updated by the dealer (yet), I suppose it could. So this reads if my truck gets updated at the dealer, my beta versions won't work anymore?
Sorry Bob, it's the engineer in me that wants to know the ins and outs of the product.

Ramon, Once you update your ecm to the POD and return to stock, you visted the dealer by using our new software .
We have to include the new chrysler update's to keep customers that have been to the dealer.
Once they get updated and try to use an older smarty software they get " unknown software" error code.
The smarty has built in safeguards to prevent any ecm damage

Ok.. I am with you now. Looks like I will have to make the change sooner or later.... not a bad thing though
This begs one more question.... won't the dealer be able to tell there is a Chrysler update to ECM but no record of it?

I will try but my last question was not answered.....

Also.. Bob G., let's hear the worth while updates! This would have been great weekend topic if we were all still going camping.

Really there is no reason to ever go back to the old software, you can create it with Revo. And Revo w/ PoD is all thats available for download.
A little info..
All softwares up to Revo had mild Tq management, so this can be created by default or TQ2 settings on Revo.
To duplicate previous timing..
TM4, original software
TM3, beta 3 software
TM2, beta 2 software
TM1, stock

I will ask a again:
I was under the impression that there is a tag somewhere in the engine compartment (or maybe in Chrysler data base locked to my VIN) that says what software version is on the ECM. If I flash mine with revo/pod, won't this send up a red flag if the dealer has to get into my ECM and sees a newer version than the truck is registered to have?
When the flashing was explained a year or so ago, it was my understanding that the stock program did not get erased, it got added to. Has this changed now or does it only do this when Chrysler make update and the Smarty needs to comply? I.e. some smarty updates will just add to your ecm and some will reflash you base version if there is a Chrysler update?
Bob G.. this is your style....throw us a teaser and leave us hanging

Or while in Warranty have the Dealership give you the current flash that smarty has.
