Smarty + Goerend VB = 13.7@104

Not tooting my own horn since I didnt do anything except install a Smary and VB, but 104mph for such few mods is pretty crazy. So the only things non stock in my truck tonight were a Smarty with MILD program and Goerend valvebody. Everything else is stock.

First run Smarty #5 MILD 14.3@101
Second run #5 MILD 14.7@100
Third run #9 MILD 13.8@104
Fourth run #9 MILD 13.7@104

Not too shabby for just a Smarty adding power. And my converter is completely shot, so maybe with a Goerend converter I can run 106 or 107 as is.

My 60's were around 2.5. Stupid 2wd and skinny tires and no skills. I out-mph'ed an STI and ran side by side with a C6 Corvette.

I am sending props to the Smarty crew(Bob and Marco) and Dave Goerend. I'd also like to thank Rudolf Diesel and Clessie Cummins.

I haven't taken my truck to the track yet, but when I put the Smarty 7 on after my trans upgrade, it sure felt fast.
It's cool to hear you running that fast with so little upgrades so far, now I'm really wondering what my truck will do!

That's awsome!!!!

Look for a set of used BFG AT's a taller wider, maybe 285's and stick thoes in the rear and air them down a bit and it should shave 3/10th;s off your 60 foot.

I have no personal experience with a 2wd but this is from whay ive read that works.

Yeah slicks are awsome but a little unrealistic for the ocasional drag race.

Your time's make me want to get a 2wd reg cab w/ sticky tires

Not quite. He ran bests of 14.3 with #5 and 13.7 with #9. That's closer to a half second difference.

Barryp, awesome times man! You and Morse sure make it tempting to buy a 2wd standard cab for racing.

Going from #5 to #9 shaved .5 seconds. Run 2 was my fault, super bad launch. Going from run 1 to run 3 you can see half a second. mild TM is what comes stock on the Smarty.

You should have enough power to run at least high 12s.

Thanks for the tips on the tires. I will probably try that out next year, it would be alot cheaper and reasonable than slicks! If I could knock 3/10ths off my 60s I would be in the low 13s, that would be nice.

Here are my slips scanned in. I am in the left lane all four runs.

I put my ECM back to stock today and now the converter isnt slipping while locked up. It is trashed with more power, but stock it is ok so far.

Here's a setup that has potential to let you cut 60's as well as many 4x4's and they look good as well.. I bought chrome 20'' wheels with nitto redline 295 tires that are the same height as stock. They were either $1320 or $1380 shipped to the door mounted and balanced. Make them an offer of 1200 and haggle from there.. Ask for a guy named Romeo. Remove two leaf springs on each side. Install Rancho 9 way adjustable shocks.. Install Caltrac bars.. Leave your front sway bar installed and set the rancho shocks all the way soft.. 1.8's aren't completely uncommon.. Solostyle here could tell you what it did last thursday.. It was faster than 99% of all 4x4's easily.. We all get lucky once in a while. It then for some reason broke loose around the third gear shift and I had to pedal it a bit. Still managed the 11.61 at 120.5. These mods will put you in the lower 13's, add some looks, and still give you a good ride.

you plan on doing anything with your factory flexplate and input shaft or you just plan on swapping out converters?

Are you still running the restrictive stock muffler and cat??? What are your egt's like on #9? Loose the muffler and cat and you would probably be even faster (and cooler!) Nice times!!! I've got a smarty comming for my truck, its a single cab too. Probably wont put down times like that since its a "slow six speed"!!!

Thanks for the tips Morse. I think I am going to start with the Caltrac bars and leaf removal. That is exactly what I am looking for and for a good price.

I am probably going to only go with a converter, no flexplate or input shaft yet. I am not as full of money as I need to be for a full billet trans, I might switch to a G56 if I can figure out if it will MPH close to the same. I know my ET will suffer greatly, but I am not sure the MPH would. If I could MPH the same I would probably switch.

I am running the cat, but I put in a muffler delete, so no muffler. I am not sure what my EGT was, I failed to look on my Commander saves before I turned the truck off unfortunately. I am going to look next time. On the street going from 30 to 90 it doesnt get high at all, so I wasnt real worried about it. You'll love the Smarty when you get it. I went from an XZT to a Smarty and it is a huge difference.

Congrats on the times if you can hook that thing an get your 60' down low 13s should be no problem. I ran 13.04 at 103mph in my 4x with Smarty beta an stock trans on 1.8 60' so you got the mph for sure. I wouldn't think of trading your auto for a stick on a buddys truck 2x 6spd he ran 106mph on a 14.90 with only a 2.6 60' for what he has on the truck he could run 12s with an auto.

2.6 60'??? What is he launching it in L range??? He needs to try a 3rd gear launch. I know the 6 speed isn't as hot as the auto for drag racing but with that mph he's got the power to cut a better 60' than that!
