Smarty/Edge Juice w/ att. Stack (kinda long)

I have had my Smarty for about a week now and I have run it thru all the settings which I am very impressed with. Today I decided to load SW #2 and play with the Edge levels 1 - 5. I could not tell that much difference between SW #2 and Edge on 0 and SW #2 and Edge on 1. Same goes for Edge on 2. Edge on level 3 I noticed a little pick up upon acceleration but not much, Edge on level 4 not much difference between it and level 3. Now Edge on level 5, I was not impressed at all, this should be 160 hp setting and SW #9 on the Smarty pulls way harder than the stack. All I noticed out of the stack was more smoke and higher EGT's. I have searched on here and I think it was OmahaRam that had success with this stack but, I didn't feel that much on the ole butt dyno. So to sum all this up I don't think I will be keeping the Edge much longer and I am a Smarty Addict.

i only use my edge for a gauge now and for milage. I get good city milage with the smarty. But when i do highway driving i get better milage with the edge and the smarty removed.

I have a stupid question and I haven't seen a Diesel information 101. But what are you stacking and how. I thought the Smarty and Smarty jr were programers. That means they can change the settings from in the truck. I didnt know you could stack two programers on top of each other. Mainly I was wanting to know what your stacking and why.

The Smarty is a programmer, while the EDGE is a plug-in Module...

You download a new program into your ECU thru the OBDII port. This does some magic before sending the signals to the engine components. The EDGE is an "in-line" module that intercepts the signals from the ECU and modifies them for better performance. Two different ways to do it...

I recently added the edge juice with additude and im not very impressed with it i also got after market intake tube and cold air intake bigger injectors and inline fuel pump to delete the intank one and 5inch exhaust and i already dont care to much for the juice/edge and i see alot of praise on here about the smarty products so should i go with the smarty jr and the adult sized version im not going to tow everyday but during the summer illbe doing alot of towing going up and over the pass here in washington state with 10k trailer and im going to be putting 24" wheels and tires on my truck

I have the same thing (Smarty & Edge Stack) agreed, not impressed. I never notice any difference when I turn up the Edge on any SW#, other than way too much timing. All that makes is a chatter like a gasser does when it detonates. I'm the same time for the Edge to go and analog isspro's to replace.

Can you just use the smarty programer with the Edge juice monitor. That way you have a digital readout on all the gauges ?? Or is that not posible.

But do you have to stack them, the smarty and the edge juice, because alot of guys say they dont like that. And what is a turbo cool down feature.

You can hook up the EDGE, set it at level stock, and use it for a digital gauge pack. A turbo cool down feature allows you to turn off the truck and walk away. The truck will run until a pre-determined EGT temperature or amount of time passes and then it shuts the engine down.

WOW, I have been around A LOT of guys that truck pull, trucks and tractors but I have never heard of that option. That is great. That sounds like the best option to do. At least to me it does. Thanks a lot for the info.

If your looking for guages the JWA is a plenty $$$ set, and the turbo timer and the smarty on some p/u's don't work well together. I would sell the JWA and put that $ tword some analog gauges or if you like the dig. read out the edge insight would do the trick.
