Hardly any smoke with stock turbo and 4.4 only when you get on it. Just got 644 miles out of my last tank 20mpg hand calc.

WIth 2 mic filtration, dont worry about your pressure. I also dont understand why your running a beta over the newer tunes on a 600 engine, forget about the 4.4 and move on. You also might want to look at quality injectors for less smoke and better low end.

I have the Hypertech Max Energy on my truck. I run it in level 2 year round with no issues at all. Truck is stock otherwise. No smoke, more power than stock, same mpg as stock.

I know the Hypertech does not turn my truck into a 1/4 mile dragster, but I didn't buy it for that. With my previous 2002 Dodge/Cummins, I went further down the slippery slope. Edge box, aftermarket injectors, J-Hook on the turbo, exhaust, intake....but then I started to worry about my stock 47RE trans and EGTs could get high on ocassion with the stock turbo. I could have kept that truck and added trans and turbo mods ($$$), but I sold it for $1000 more than I paid for it after owning it for 3 years. Couldn't pass that up -- and I wanted a 5.9L Mega 3500 before the 6.7L came out -- didn't want a DPF truck.

I figure the Hypertech is a mild mod that gives me the added power for towing and pulling away from Fords at the traffic lights, and that's all I need.

Very good to know!! Now just to get rid of the smoke issue and maybe the 4.4 will live on the truck forever.

Nice!! On an unloaded 630 mile trip a year ago with the truck as it is now, including the 34" Toyos, I got 19.2 mpg at 72 mph (ACTUAL, not stock high readings...have 32" tire plugged into smarty to get GPS verified accuracy). When the truck was bone stock with 3500 miles on it, I drove home with it from the original owner in Ohio to Florida...at 65 mph, only saw 18.9 mpg.

WOW!! I only see 1200 when pushing it hard...1/2 throttle or so when merging, but nothing over 1000 when cruising. 700 is low!! I see 650 unloaded when doing 70!

That Silver62 is a full on competition charger, great for boosted launches and 1/8 and 1/4 mile runs, but not much of a workhorse.

You wont have any problem selling it(Silver), Mine was gone, in like 15 minutes on Cummins Forum.
You're probably right now that I think about it. If I roll into the throttle in 6th gear below the 2k RPM mark, EGTs scream as it tries to build boost.

Thank you all for the info...I'm going to swap over to the stocker and see. I may fall in love all over again with this truck.

What's a safe boost level to push the stock turbo to? That's another concern...I'm worried the 4.4 will fuel enough to push over 40 psi on the stocker.

tcr,
I have tried the standard revo and was terribly disappointed. I thought about the TNT, but I keep reading numerous posts on how many people hate it compared to their betas. The response on the 4.4 is silly and the truck drives amazingly well. When I tried the revo, no matter what settings, the truck felt like stock unless I really laid into it. I rarely see over 1/4 throttle with 4.4 because it is so responsive.

You'll love the 4.4 with stock turbo....i had that combo for 1.5 years w/o issue....stocker spooled to 40-45psi w/o issue...when i sold it it had no signs of wear (not that it's good for it)....

Standard Revo is poor IMHO compared to 4.4 or TnT....

I think i'm going to put 4.4 on this afternoon for the commute home! Havent run it in quite a while as i've got good settings on TnT with my setup.

I run the old tst r37. Tons of power, no added pressure and absoulutely no smoke even if you stand on it from a dead stop(until the tires break loose). it doesn't start adding fuel until 12psi

Okay, stock turbo is back on. I'm about to take her out for a test drive. I really don't want to push the stocker to 40 plus psi but I rarely hammer down on my truck that much anymore so it'll only see that kind of pressure on rare occasions.

If for some reason I think the 4.4 still smokes too much for my liking, I'll sell her and check out a TST module since it seems to be the least smoke box.

Thanks again for all the support!!

I also ran with 4.4 for about a year. I too was concerned about RP, & made the switch to TNT, & never looked back. My cruising RP is about the same as yours, but it pulls harder on top than 4.4 did. 4.4 had a little more on the bottom end. I had lousy mileage with 4.4 tho, but with TNT I'm back to where it was stock plus a little if I keep my foot out of it.

What settings are you using for tnt and what are you getting for mileage. Of course still have stock turbo and lift pump. Tried tnt on 1 tm 2 timing 2 rp default .seemed like duration is a lot on tnt. I could watch the rail pressure go up then when I got on it it would drop then recover not on any other tunes have I seen this I seem to have a very good lift pump for a stocker.

I'm running TNT SW-9/TQ-2/TM-2/RP-2/WG off. ( TQ-3 fried the tires @ 1/4 throttle) I average 15-16 mpg, but is mostly city with hwy crossing mountain passes. I got 14 with 4K# camper in the box crossing 4 passes to go hunting. I have tryed TM 3, &4 too, & got slightly faster spool, but had more smoke. TM-2 is what my truck likes. Where I live I've never got more than 17 mpg. To get anywhere from here you have to climb at least 1 mountain pass.
I have an aftermarket turbo, but stock CP-3, & sticks, & am running about 500hp at the tires. Will have dino #'s to prove later.

TnT is definately a pressure hog....i had to get AD150 / Arson 3 CP3 Mod to get around the pressure dip (mostly).

Running TnT 7, RP2, Timing 2, TM 2, WG off.....very drivable, good performance (does 125mph = scary), rp is in check at cruise, mileage is 17-18.....happy with it....but i am going to go back to 4.4 this weekend (for a few days) just for old times sake....do love the bottom end on 4.4

Well, I think the truck is pretty **** amazing now. The stock turbo is perfect with the 4.4. It spools crazy fast and is a blast to drive. You really have to WANT it to smoke...before I was always pouring out solid smoke anytime I accidentally throttled too hard below 2k rpm. Not anymore...it's perfect. Thanks again guys!!
