Talking Six-Gun is in and HOLY **edited** !!!

WOW,

Thats all i can say. I originally had been shipped the wrong module and the folks i bought it from got the right one to me in about 3 days time. Opened her up at 1:00 this afternoon and was done with Six-Gun AND Speedloader by about 5:15. Not too shabby on the ol' install. Like has been said before read the entire directions book first then read it again while doing it. The wiring loom they send is terrific quality and the connections all went on easily enough. The Crank and Cam were the two toughest ones but they only took about 3 or 4 minutes or so. Dropped the turbo enough to stick some cardboard between the manifold and Turbo and greased up the drill bit and tap. Got the hole opened up and tapped then ran the engine for a sec to blow out any pieces the shop vac didnt suck out. Feeding the wiring through the gromet in the firewall was probably the hardest thing to do and it didnt take too long.
Took it for a drive and let it "LEARN" the transmission and got rid of the 4,3 code. Then let it "LEARN" the speedloader was installed.
Afterwards I started playing. EGTs remained below 1300 with 2 exceptions where i stepped on it and didnt let up they climbed to just over 1370 for a sec but that was all. I do indeed have the Pyro mounted in the location recommended "PRE-TURBO".

POWER!!!... Absolutely amazing. You can actually hear the difference on level 6 when running along a wall or in a tunnel. Dont really feel level 2 and 3 too much down low but on 4 and 5 it really starts to come alive. Level 6 feels like i slapped this pony on the ***. I can be rolling from a stoplight at about 20 and punch it. The tranny downshifts and it will light both rears up!!!

The first time i did that i was like hheeeerree we GO!!

I would definitly recommend this product to anyone considering a box for their rig and also concerned with some measure of safety.

As yet it is WAY to early to determine any fuel economy gains. I will drive my many miles over the next week and see how she does in town then I have a 3000 mile trip over the next 2 weeks that should be a good indicator of hiway economy. (I always hand calculate and typically get around 15.6 average in town and 17.3 on the interstate)

Thought the speed loader had a defueling option if you connect the pyro to it - May have mis-read the Banks page. Thought that was the glory with Banks - you never have to worry - just drive the heck out of it and not worry, Banks monitors and thinks for you. Is this so?

Horsehauler:

I do indeed have the stock tranny and yes I have a fairly early 04. I will bomb the tranny once spring roles around probably with ATS TC and VB if everything goes according to plan. So far though I havent noticed any defueling related to tranny slippage nor have I noticed any convertor shudder or anything such as that, however it is still very early for me to make much of an assesment with only about 20 miles on the Six-Gun so far. I will keep you posted though

FastZilla:

The Six-Gun will indeed defuel if the egts exceed 1350. However spikes above 1350 can occur and could go on for a few seconds. If temperatures continue to exceed 1350 then something is wrong with the system and a Banks tech rep should be notified. That is all per the Banks installation guide. So you are correct if 1350 is exceeded for a few seconds it will indeed defuel to correct it and preserve the turbo (actually piston temps is what it is protecting)

The Six gun also has a dianostic mode that tells ou if there is a problem or has been an overpressurization, or if it receiving incorrect signal from the source connections. With the safeguards built into this system and some carefull monitoring of my guages i think it should be a reliable and good performig system.

Thats was pretty much my take on the system when I put it on my truck......Holy **edited**

Have had it about 3 weeks now.....its on level 5 or 6 all the time, 4 when I have the two jetski's behind it. And it still smokes even on 4.

I can break the tires loose shifting from 2-3 and sometime 3-4. But there is enough there to shift 2-4-6 or 2-3-5.

Well Ive got the auto tranny so no 6th gear to try it in...lol

I can break loose the 315's pretty much at will whenever i feel like it. Like i said in another post I was doing all that i could to get the egts up there. Top gear bogged down and it was only for a split second or so. I was jerking around about 12,500# doing it too. If I drive anything other than FULL THROTTLE I cant really get egts to get up to any more than about 1100 or 1130 or so. I took standing on it going up "radar hill road" to get that spike so i am in no way worried about egt.

I havent been able to get her to smoke yet. A little puff maybe once but like Doug said "this box simply does not smoke"...

BTW I am only seeing about 23-24 pounds of boost at max.

What should i do to bump this up some. Thought about adjusting the wastegate a litle with a washer or two for spacers... Any thoughts on this one?

Invest a $30 boost elbow and it will help get the Boos t up there where you want it or spend the $200 and get the Banks Big Head

yeah dude the six gun speedloader is bad *** i have it installed on the 600 and i got some 100 hp tips from ats and i dyno'd the truck and had like 521 and 1002. I couldn't get any higher because the torque converter was slipping. I am doing the tranny next week i hope so everything will be better. Just on level 1 with no six gun i was at like 425 and 808 but with that on six i was really dominating i set the record already with my old run. With just the six gun and speedloader i got 458 and i got 907 torque that's right before i got injectors and now with the htb2 tubo that's going on next week in addition to the fass pump i'm hoping she'll hold together untile ats has their way with it

Not a bad idea

Come by the smog shop on the corner of Sycamore and Cochran during the week.

As for the Big Head, it will not work on a 600. We got blessed with a electronic wastegate

I didnt buy the "Bundle" I bought the Six-Gun and the Speedloader from Desert Automotive. Got the pair for $625 + shipping which i recall was about 20 bucks or so. They sell on ebay al the time. What I received is the full kit for 6 gun and speedloader all the wiring harness gaskets for dropping turbo for pyro (pyro comes with it) I didnt order any guages since I already had them. I have the boost gauge on the SRT-10 A pillar and the Pyro on a swivel gauge mounted on the dash next to the a-pillar. Ill get some pics up here soon.

The kit is very complete and a very profesional job at that.

OH YES IM GRINNIN NONE STOP...lol

AK RAM: That is a tempting offer... Why you ditching the G1 ? and what is a G1 btw... or is that B1...?
