silencer ring

I Keep hearing about the silencer ring on these new rigs, could someone tell me where it's at? I assume it's in or near the airbox.

Use the search feature. You'll only find about 10 million topics.

Try this link. It shows what it looks like and where it's at. Just scroll down to "silencer ring".

i could be wrong,,but it looks to me like the silencer ring directs the air flow into the turbo blades,,taking it off,,in my opinion would screw up the air flow,,,,,am i right or wrong? any other opinions?

Holset didnt design the turbo to use the ring....In fact, the ring blocks Holset's "Mapwidth Enhancers" (the little slots on the outer portion of the inlet) DC made holset use the ring to reduce noise emission....Absolutely ZERO effect of performance in or out...Just noise

Taking off the silencer ring doesn't add power or anything.....but give the turbo that "whistle".

Its there to make the turbo quiet.
