Silencer Ring

I have a 05 3500 CTD, I removed what I thought was going to be the ring but it was a wing / divider looking thing in the air tube before the elbow . What the heck was it? Should I put it back in?

Thanks

You mean the big plastic "X" inside the 5" plastic intake tube? Those are the silence baffles, and no, you should not put them back in

The silencer ring is actually inside the intake side of the turbo. Take the intake hose off the turbo and look inside and you will be able to see the ring in front of the compressor wheel. There is a snap ring that holds it in place, just grab on the puppy with some needle nose pliers and maybe a screw driver and out she comes!!!

Is it after the elbow? in the mouth of the turbo?

I think he pulled out the air deflector in the elbow. You should put that back in. It helps the air make the turn through the elbow and doesn't really restrict the flow. Racer, your talking about those white plastic vanes, right?

I left those in, is the ring before or after? The only thing I have removed is the "X' wing thing. Is that the silencer ring or is there somthing else?

Thanks

This link will show you the turbo with the ring in place and with the ring removed.
