silencer ring?

silencer ring?

do the 3rd gens have them? are they just as easy to remove?

Yes, come off in about 5 minutes with two small flat bladed screwdrivers. You need to pry out the snapring.

Yep, i've done both. I plucked the silencer ring and replaced the black tube with an AirAid MIT for about $50.

So far in my quest for more turbo sound I've removed the silencer ring and replaced the turbo silencer thingie with a length of 5" exhaust tubing. I think it might have helped a bit but not that noticible. Think an open air filter set-up will add the sound I'm looking for?

I'd bet on it. I drilled my stock airbox with a few 2" holes and the turbo whistle is much louder.

No it is between your air filter and your turbo inlet.

loose the silencer ring,your muffler, and re pipe the air intake - torque tube/BAHF. She will scream to ya!
