What and where is the silencer ring... I have a K & N intake on the way will I have to remove this? what will it do???

 

you don't have to remove the silencer ring but it will make the turbo noticably louder. to remove it just take the intake tube off the turbo and remover th snap ring in the front of the turbo and the silencer ring will come out. use a small screw driver to pry up the snap ring and another screwdriver to push out on the snap ring. it is pretty easy to do and if you don't like it put it back in but i have found my turbo spoils up faster with out the ring

 

Be very careful not to hit or nick the turbo blades when taking the snap ring out, the snap rings can be a little tricky to get started coming out.

 

Ok I have a question? If the silencer is the 1 held in with the snap ring, then why is the 1 in the black plastic canister also called the silencer? Thats the one I have removed.

 

Trust me, though I drive an '03, the ring in question is in the turbo housing. It can easily be done. 2 small screwdrivers.

 

the black one in the intake that you removed is called the intake baffle
