should I get a Smarty jr?

I'm on the fence with this one, looking for a little input. My truck is stock except the Quad standard which is serving me well. I like the option of setting tire size and reading codes that comes with the Smarty jr. But I believe I have read on here that somebody said " I smoked my clutch on setting 2". That worries me having an auto. Also I read something about torque management, is it reduced or ajustable on the Jr. Any comments appreciated.

I am not sure on the jr. I have a stock clutch and have ran mine on #7 and #9 since I bought my smarty sr. I pulled a dump trailer last weekend (7000lbs full) on # 7. My truck has over 100,000 miles on the stock clutch. It is all about how you drive it.

I agree with 03RAM2500 "It is all about how you drive it". I have an automatic I have had no problems.

i had a smarty sr and rode around with sw5 all the time- 90 hp. i have a built tranny now and have a jr and its on 100.. its all in how you drive for sure. as long as you know your trannies capabilities and dont do anything stupid with it like burnouts, flooring it off the line at every stop light, then your tranny will be fine.

I'm running around on level 7 with my auto and 35" tires. I don't beat on my truck at all, and the trans feels fine.

I don't think the jr has the option of adjusting the torque managment. It probably comes with moderate installed as default like the sr. comes. You can go to www.madselectronics.com to read and learn about the smarty. If you plan on more mods later, I would spend the extra money and get the sr.

ditch the quad or stack it with #1 on jr. Its all how you drive it. The jr has the most conservative torque management on the market...its stuck in mild so to speak...buy and you'll laugh about being on the fence

sr vs jr

I thought that the first three levels on the sr were the same as the jr levels, but as I read more it seems this may not be the case. Does anyone know? The reason I ask is because I would like a jr, but have seen some used sr's for good price and have been contemplating the sr instead. I dont need all the power of the sr. but if the first three levels are the same or close I may go that way instead. I guess I am wondering if there are any cons to the sr. over the jr. if you are not looking for tons of power?

Buy the jr. I just got one this week and it's great. The levels are:1 Economy 40hp.2 Towing 70hp. 3 Performance 100hp. The torque is rated at double the hp. I'm driving around on the 70 hp setting and I love it. Way better throttle response, good down low power. My trans hasen't complained at all, but I'm not drag racing. Your gonna like whatever you get be it a sr. or a jr.
