Unless you have the G56 with the bend in the shifter......

It's more than a chunk of aluminum.

It also includes the new shift pivot/arm that changes the pivot point.

IMO it's worth it.

Find a used one somewhere, but be patient. Most who get one don't switch back.

The BD shifter is WAYYY overpriced, that's for sure. Someone needs to make a true shifter, not just a shift lever and spacer. Cars like Mustangs have fully re-engineered shifters with much stronger aluminum bases. Seeing how ours is even worse than a mustang with a plastic base, we really should have a full aftermarket replacement available by now. I would almost be tempted to get some of the mustang places that build their own parts in house try and develop a shifter for the NV5600 including a new base. I'm afraid to shift this thing too hard and rip those little 8mm bolts out of the tranny, or snap the plastic. It's kind of funny....a tranny w/ a cast iron case that weighs nearly 400 lbs, but a pastic shifter housing. DUHHHHH

Some things don't need to be said #2. They are just a given....

Wap, I just remember Tomeygun saying that he had the shifter done and ready to sell but that it wouldn't work with the G56s that had the shifter with the bend in it. I'm not sure if they even make one with a straight shaft.

Signed,

One question I would ask is are you looking to actual reduce the amount of time that it takes to bet from one gear to the next?

Or just a more comfortable shift? (arm reach, etc)

BTW - I think I say PAC-BRAKE had a shoft shift kit for the 98-02 trucks....

Well, I've got a B-D and shift it like I hate it sometimes with no wear or problems so far and yeah, I wish it had been cheaper but now that it's in I wouldn't trade it back for the money!
