several questions for smarty guys
several questions for smarty guys
Sorry guys but I am a little on the slow side here. I have a 07 that is bone stock (except guages). Thinking about the smarty for it. Is the TM for torque management. Does it just eliminate the lag that they have stock? How safe is the smarty with a stock clutch running empty doing the old stop light to stop light race? I assume that you can down load different programs off of their website? Last of all when will the smarty junior be out, I dont want to have to get a new clutch. Thank you for your patience for my dumbness.
One last thing, how do you guys like the edge juice with attitude?

If you're easy on the clutch mild TM level 5 should be safe. But some G56 owners have slipped the clutch with the same settings so be careful. The sign of a slipping clutch is the clutch pedal will be very hard to engage.
Yes, the programs are downloadable from their website and it's free.
Not sure on the Jr. release but I'm hearing November. Contact Bob Wagner for an update.

Hi, I have only had mine for a week with the standard MILD TM, but I can give some impressions. Before this, I had only an XZT. The Smarty is about the same on level #3. The biggest difference between the two is the Smarty has alot more power down low because of the lessened TM. Both rated around 60-65hp(Smarty on #3), they are totally different. With the XZT, I could not break my tires loose from a roll in 2nd gear. With the Smarty on the same hp setting, it is easy. Thats just because of the TM I think. I also tried the Smarty on #7, the power is huge.
I still like the XZT alot. With the XZT, the truck drives exactly the same, just more power. The Smarty changes the throttle response so it feels different, I think it gets rid of the lag you are talking about. You touch the throttle and the power seems alot more "urgent". Maybe the STOCK TM would make it feel more stock. I plan on stacking the XZT with the Smarty once I get my auto transmission sorted.

Running the original program that came on my smarty, my clutch had no problems holding #7 with 35" tires. The day i put on the 37's i slipped the crap out of it. I never towed anything on #7 but did when i was running #5 and never had any issues then either. Ive since gotten the clutch taken care of.
