04 2X4 3500/Will the trans hold up?

I have a stock automatic in my 2X4 3500 and a few add ons. I've not been active on this forum for a long time and see there are a lot more goodies for the truck. What would the stock trans be able to handle? Also is there a better module(s) for lowering EGT's? My Edge EZ & Van Aken are both 3 yr old models +-. Thanks

Your stocker should be good for about 100 hp over stock. But personally, I wouldn't tow for any length of time at 100hp over stock. I think as far as mild add ons go, meaning those that will still keep you in a stock tranny, I don't think the cost of anything new really out weighs what you have now. That is a personal choice of course. If you want to grow into more power though, I really like the smarty on my '04. I don't know about your egt ?.

Thanks for the reply. I suppose that being "out of the loop" for a couple of years I am not aware of new mods. At the time I did a few things to my truck the big issue was that no box could address timing and egt's were a fairly large concern. When I straight piped-w-5", put the BMF air filter and full Amsoil I took about 100 degrees off my 10 sec WOT egt. Am I now to assume there are new boxes-w-timing control that help lower egt's?
I inquired-w-a dealer about the same fuel pump you have on your truck and was told it was not diesel compatible. I fabricated-w-some black lexan a 4 guage assembly that covers the hole in my dash that was there to hold items and which I would have stuffed full of junk. One of the guages is fuel pressure and the Isspro guage started leaking fuel so I shut it off-w-a small valve I had put in for this possibility. If I can find another that will mount in the same hole and be sure it won't leak I'd be thrilled. Obviously an isolator is the best way to keep fuel from being present in the cab but I've heard there is trouble-w-these also? Any advice on a fuel pressure guage is appreciated. BTW your truck seems like it would be fun to drive!

On the gauges, look into some of the electronic gauges like quadzilla that do that without pumping fuel to the cab. I think the "recon" is one and is sold here. A little more money gets you a Quad commander which is all digital gauges in one display, or get the new x2 with it that does power stuff too. There are also bully dog pmt that does a lot of that same stuff. Research it here. There are a lot more options for you if you want to spend the $. But on the fuel pressure gauge, I'd go electronic. No mess.
On the pump I have it is one of the two most popular (FASS being the other) you will find here and works great.
Boxes with timing control... there are a number of different products that affect timing one way or another. Most of them are in the power adders whether a downloader like Smarty or Diablo or a box/module like Qzilla or TST. There is also the Roktek sensor which allows you to just do timing. (I have no experience with that one). The question of lowering egts is a debate here to some degree. I am not informed enough to provide an intelligent answer about it one way or the other, but the argument centers somewhat on egts (that you can measure) and actual cylinder temperatures that you cannot. The arguement being something along the lines of timing affecting egts in the exhaust manifold where it is measured but not in the cylinders... There are threads here that explain a lot better than I can, you have to search for them.

And yeah, my truck is fun to drive alright but maybe not as fun as some of the others here
