Several questions for Edge users! Updated new 0-60 times!!!

See my posts below for new times -- Thanks for the help guys!

Okay, so I timed myself on the edge tonight in 0-60

7.6 on level 4
7.6 on level 5

No boosted launch, just in 2WD with minimal tire spin on the 35's

Question #1: When I set my tire size on the unit, it didn't give the option for 315/70r17, I think the closest thing was 315/75/r17. Will this make a huge difference in how the speedo on the edge unit reads? Anyone else dealt with this problem?

Question #2: The edge says not to calibrate the trucks speedo because then the unit doesn't work properly. Its irratating because I have to look at the little unit to see my speed, and my odo is off and I can't tell if I'm getting horrible or good mileage, etc. What have you guys done about this?

Question #3: The edge says my backdown was 68% roughly on those runs with a 10% slip. I"m assuming that's a pretty big effect. Do I need more fuel, or would it be defueling because of the tranny slip.

Recommendations, etc. would be greatly appreciated. Most edge 0-60 times i've seen on level 5 were much closer to 7 secs. If I ran like maybe a predator programmer or something, could i adjust the speedo through that, and then have it defuel the truck at its limits? I just don't know what to do!

Sorry to ramble!

Rick

10% is a high slip rate thats why it defueled itself. Sounds like your tranny work will be needed faster than you thought. T/C cant put the power to the ground if its slipping when locked up. As for the tires cant help ya there hopefully someone with their knowledge will chime in soon. As for a 7.6 in the 60 seems a little slow to me. I ran a 6.9 on setting 4, setting 5 was to much for the tranny and I ran a 7.4

68% back down could be due to boost limit also. what is your boost back down set point??

I can get up to 40% slip when towing (on level 2) and it will immediately defuel and you can feel it for sure.

You guys need to stop slipping your TCs. You have to realize that the Juice can't react instantly. Once it shows you slip, the TC has already been slipping, and then once it registers the slip it has to react to defuel which doesn't happen instantly either. The safety feature in the Juice will keep you from doig a lot of damage all at once, but it cannot keep you from damaging it over the long run.

As far as question #2, the only thing that won't work properly is the TC slip monitor. The only way around that is to upgrade your TC so you can turn that feature off in the Juice and not ahve to worry about it anymore. Then you can get the speedo recalibrated.

Thanks for the answers guys... Still wondering though - Whats the deal with tire size??? It gives totally separate numbers for 315/75, etc. and 35''s I don't understand because 315s are suppose to be 35s. If the setting I have on this is way off, it could be screwing my 0-60 times by quite a bit!

Update! Set boost backdown to occur at 40PSI rather then original 36 PSI - New 0-60 6.8 Seconds! Backdown was only 4% (which I'm assuming was related to some light slipping. Thanks for the help guys!!!

The slip % that is recorded in the records is NOT really accurate. I know of a guy who drove it in STOCK MODE and it was recording 10-20% slippage. The truck was NEW, LOW MILEAGE and he was not beating on it.

I am very speculative. If that is the case. Then STOCK trucks are slipping the converter ALL THE TIME, even without boxes or mods.

Incase you didn't know:
315 70 R17
315 = 315mm wide
75 = 75% of the width is the side wall size.
2x side wall + Rim = overall heigth
25.4mm = 1 inch
(((315x.75)x2)/25.4) + rim width(17inches) = 35.6

You're 0.6 inches off if you use 35in on the Edge. I think Smarty allows adjustment in .1inch.

Later,

Greg

I agree...my stock truck on the stock setttings of my attitude is anywhere from 8-10%. That is driving normally and again in level 0. It is the same in level 3. I was told that a little slip is ok and a stock tranny will slip some. Dont know how true it is but I sure dont feel it. When Im in lock up....and I hit the pedal the truck goes.

Good for you, glad you and your injectors are happy now but what does that have to do with this thread?

The EDGE does NOT raise fuel/line pressure on 2004+ models. It is NOT a pressure box it runs on duration and timing. So, it will not cause an injector failure.

Well I suspect after running different boxes, pressure only, timing/duration only and both pressure and timing/duration, that eratic timing/duration signals from a screwed up box controller or bad wiring harness can do just as much to contribute to an injector failure as added pressure.
