scotty III dust report
Well - I have had my scotty III air filter for a year and a half or so I think. Haven't even looked at the filter until last night - following a very dusty hunting season. Boy was the outside of that thing disgusting - very, very dirty - and packed with bugs on the bottom side. I'm pleased to report the inside of the filter - and the air tube down stream of the filter was spic and span clean though - nothing came through at all !
I noticed pulling my trailer back home that my EGT's were running higher than in the past - and after eating all that dust on gravel roads for 9 days - I figured the filter was pretty ugly- causing the higher temps.... and it was. One observation - the bulk of crud & bugs was clearly from the front feed area - not the stock side inlet...so the scotty air-box is doing a good job of getting air into the front of it.

Yes - it was one of the first air boxes from scotty. I think I will probably get one of the foam filters and give it a try - it will be more convinent and easier to clean - I do motorcylce foam filters weekly - so it would tend to get serviced more frequently, plus I have filter oil on my shelf all the time etc. etc. luckily I had a K&N filter clean kit left over from a previous car to clean up the AFE this time.
