I am a little worried about losing some of the streetability of the truck with a full roll cage,,,, that is the only reason Im looking at the roll bar

you could put swing out side bars and you should have no trouble getting in and out of the truck

i am designing my own and i am having a local shop bend up the tubing. all this shop does is tube frame chassis and roll cages, i am going with a 10 point, halo, solid side bars, and i am going to design the back bars so that they do not interfear with the back seats

Mork yeah I agree, you shouldn't lose much in the street aspect. I have a full cage in my 1974 camaro z28. I use it for autocross and canyon carving, well in my neck its mtn carving. But its not bad IMO. If i had to do over i would do the swing out door bar though.

Had me worried so stopped by the shop and looked at the cage to frame tie in.
On the frame there is a 3x2" rectangle tubing that is welded at roughly a 45 degree angle that enters the cab through the floor. The 3x2 is capped and the chrome moly tube is welded directly to the rectangle tube.

I had roughly the same done for our cage but our box tubing is 3x4 as we used 2" DOM .150 wall. The box tubing is also ties together with a piece of 2" DOM. If you think you'll ever push 9's then I'd do a full cage. It's easier to do it the first time instead of having to do it again later.

Im just trying to break into the 10's,,, dont really see 9's,, not with this truck I dont think..... I really think I would have to put the truck on a real diet to get there

Kevin

Hopefully I'll have some data later on this fall/winter from a few of the big chargers. Then we can get a good plan for a set of twins for you.
