Couple of degrees and takes few minures to install. Most get a little better mileage.Helps low end torque.May cause a little valve rattle on a cold engine.

Could we not just slot the stock sensor where you could rotate it a couple of degrees instead of buying an aftermarket one ?? I haven't taken a look at the stock sensor yet, but I am getting ready to look into it. What would be the effect of advancing the timing a few degrees with nothing but a pressure box on the engine ??

Go to my picture gallery to see the difference between the stock and modified crankshaft sensor. Much easier to do the tone wheel mod than trying to machine the sensor.

Additional timing really helps with either pressure or duration boxes in lowering the EGTs. And a little more grunt in the lower rpm range.

Aside from the cost, which mod is easier to do for the average guy, the Rokktech Sensor or the tone ring modification. I gather both tasks get done from under the truck right?

Sensor.Tone ring mod requires more work and tools.

Never worry about stupid here..there's plenty of it...I just figured out the tone ring thing myself, and there's some big time reading available if you want to know about it from the start. Interesting stuff...try this link

I just installed the Rokktech sensor this evening. It helps to have a small straight edge screwdriver to move the red locking tab. I also did this just 45 minutes after getting home. The engine block was still uncomfortably warm.

Anyway, the install does take just five minutes and it does seem to have a little more power. The tires are easier to spin.

I suspect my '06 truck was a little too retarded, since I've only been getting about 13.4 MPG (hand-calculated) at just over 5000 miles on the odometer. I'm hoping to see some improvement in the MPG.

Yeah when I checked later it didn't work for me either...don't know what happened to it! But do a search for tone ring mod and that should lead you to something productive. That's how I originally found it myself. Good Hunting!

I have been running the sensor for over a year now. Appears the best gains is keeping the rpms below 2k. So it help a little for around town driving but I didn't see any change in fuel economy during highway driving.

I've noticed the same thing, if I keep it at 2000 rpm or less I've gained about 2mpg in town and highway driving. Over 2000 rpm it's seems about the same, maybe a little less?? My problem is I have a tough time keeping my foot out of the throttle.

I did a little of my own testing as far as performance goes, and on the average, 0-30mph, 0-60mph, 30-60mph, and 60-80mph all had better times by about .25 seconds.

Not much, but there is a slight improvement.
