Road Armor or others ?

Today I had a little run in with concrete pylon, and needless to say my factory bumper didnt do so well when put up aginst the concrete? So Im just wondering if anyone has ever build there own front bumper, or if anyone would have any dimentions. Im thinking about going with maybe one of the road armor bumpers, but I have a buddy that builds a different style of bumper and he may be able to make me one up for quite a bit cheaper. Thanks Joel

I built a bumper for my jeep wrangler a few years ago, haven't done anything for my Dodge.

There's a guy with a road armor bumper in the classifieds section here.

How's sturgis? I was stationed at Ellsworth up until last January, man i miss it up there...

have had my road armor bumper for about a year and it's awesome. it fits the lines of the 03-05 curved headlights perfectly. the piaa 510's that fit the cut-outs do a much better job than the factory fogs and my winch fits behind without the control box sticking out on top. sometimes you might have to wait some to finally get the bumper but the others i looked at were all about $2000. fyi- i'm pretty sure the arb is not available for 03+.

I love my alien-patrol bumper.. Getting ready to order a winch and four piaa's 510 equals no need for headlights!!!

ARB does have bumper available for 03-06 Dodges. I'm leaning towards ARB. It's not nearly as big and bulky as other popular bumpers.

Fab Fours makes a nice bumper as well. The Alien Patrol bumper is real similiar to it. Fab Fours bumpers are pricey.......

i know that road armor claims 2 week delivery but if you really need it quickly you should probably look elsewhere. really good bumper but sometimes it takes a while.

Clone

Road Armor had a problem with their company and now there are several manufactures making the same style - Alien and http://www.jddistributing.com/site/1320111/page/45029. I picked the JDs up from the Manuf.

I have their front and rear, they were one of RA fabracators until problems. I really like both. If i were doing again, I would look also at Buckstop bumpers in Oregon. But I would do one or the other. I had mine coated with bedliner type material.

I was building something different for my dually. It was flat just like the bigrigs. 24" tall, boxed 4" on bottom and 2" on top. Was going to put a row of oval lights on the bottom, just never got it finished.

Jim Terry, the owner of Alien Patrol, claims to be the founder of RA (Road Armor) and the designer of all the RA products until the last year or so. I think that's correct. I've spoken to him -- seems like a nice guy. I tried to buy a bumper from him twice. Once he got the wrong batch of parts and couldn't deliver as promised, and the second time we made a deal I tried to place the order two days later and couldn't reach him. I tried again and again, by phone and email at all three addresses, for two weeks, without response. I haven't been able to reach him for a couple months, by email or phone, so I'm not sure he's even in business anymore, though the website is still up.

Meanwhile, the RA guys used my truck as the prototype fit for a new bumper. It's been fit, sent to powder-coating, and is being bolted on with the new winch and lights on Friday morning. I'm sorry that the Alien Patrol thing didn't work out, but it seems like none of the guys in these after-market companies is ever able to do what they promise when they promise it. At least that's been my experience. If somebody stepped in to a company with a good design and ran them like a regular company (returning calls, honoring promises, delivering products, etc) he'd probably get rich.

You might also look at these guys. http://throttledownkustoms.com/bumpers/ That's the bumper I bought for my truck. They look like they belong on there and they aren't so obtrusive. I have attached a couple of pics but they are from my phone. The other bumper I was considering was the Reunel. They are a little pricey but they look good and the quality is awesome. http://www.reunel.com/DodgeExtremeDu...per/index.html
