Hello DTR. I'm looking for a new key on power source for my gauges and I dont want to use the cigar lighter because my fass is tapped there and I would rather not tap a wire twice. Does anyone have an idea where I can find another key on hot? Thanks for the info.

 

I know you said you didn't want to tap the cigar lighter, but if you use a relay and the cigar lighter for the trigger, draw would be minimal. Relays are cheap and provide a source for higher amperage accessories if you ever need it.

In this diagram the 86 is connected to cigar lighter. I ran 30 and 85 right to the battery with some heavier (than needed by gauges) gauge wire.

 

Thank you for the help. I think that maybe just trick I need. Correct me if I'm wrong but I should be able to run wires from 87 to both my fass and my gauges and connect 86 to where my cigar lighter wire is already tapped? Thanks for the help.

Don't forget to add inline fuses for protection all around. A 1 amp fuse to the 86, whatever is appropriate for your fass and gauges (87), and also fuse the battery lead (30), the safe side of whatever gauge wire you use for power. Can't be too safe. A typical relay is rated for 30 amps IIRC.
