Talking Removed silencer ring and baffles

And got to say i love every second it took to get that stuff off. The truck screams now with a stock filter. Took me about 10 minutes to get the ring off and about 1 to get the baffling out. Took my dad for a ride and he said ok and I did the same thing to his 02. This time took me 45 seconds to get the ring out. He hasn't driven his yet but again i am thrilled with the way mine sounds.

What sounds different about it? We did the same thing to my truck last weekend, and I could swear that it got QUIETER...??? It seems like I could hear the turbo more before.

The turbo screams now. In the mega cab i could not hear the turbo at all with the radio on, and with it off my wife still could barely hear it. Now with the radio on my wife can hear it and it screams past 2500rpms now when usually i could only hear it between 1500-2200 rpms. Did you remove the baffles out of the plastic tube also

Yes, we removed the silencer ring and the large baffles inside the plastic tube. I can barely hear the turbo even with both windows down. It might be the "new shoe syndrome", but it feels like I picked up some low end power by doing this though. But I wonder why I cant hear the turbo like you guys are saying?

Thats prolly why, I still have the stock airbox(intact) and stock air filter. I prolly need to get more air through it via a freeer flowing filter.

I took the silencer ring out , and didn`t really notice anything untill I took a trip on the highway....everytime you touched the throttle , you could hear it.

I hated it , it sounded like I was constantly on and off the gas....

I ended up putting mine back in.

Any tips on getting the snap ring out? I have tried to wedge a really small flat head under to pry it up...the thing will not budge! If I could get it to move a little I could use another screw driver to hold it up while I wedged the other one underneath. However, I have not been succesful. I can only get to it to remove it in a clock wise motion, I read that it should be removed in a counter clockwise motion. Any help would be great? My DIY PSM box will be complete when my dpp cool hose comes in next week. The silencer ring may have to stay in my truck.

Dreamboater..you have the same truck I do. I have to admit its not as easy as some make it out to be on here but with some persistence and a pick tool and another small screwdriver you should be able to get it. I used the pick tool to get ring to move away from the trubo housing then I quick slip the screwdriver in that gap I just made......I spend about 20 min or so doing this before I could get it, but sure enough I finally got it out. Make sure you clean the inside of the turbo out then before you put eveything back together.....by picking at the ring for a while I created some small metal shards.

Hope that helps

i just used a pick to raise the lip up just a smudge, put the screwdriver it its place, then used the pick to pry it up further and just worked my way around, once i figured that out it took 4 seconds to take off.
