I have a 06 dodge 2500 with the 5.9 cummins, I went to the dodge house asking for a remote start but they said that the one they have isnt for diesels, can anyone help me on finding a well reliable after market remote start for my truck. thanks....

I just bought the DEI/ Viper 160xvl which is the one mile range starter. It's basically the same unit as the Viper 5900. I hate it. It's been in the shop twice now and it's junk. I can't get it to start four car spaces away if I'm behind a trash can. Line of sight works fine though. If you step out from behind the trash can it works. Go figure.

I read online that the SST models by Viper had a 30% chance of bad antenna's and or remotes coming off the line. Alot of people are having issues with them. I'm bummed.

I think I'm going to have them pull it out for a Compustar. Would love to hear other opinions on these though like you....

If memory serves me correctly, Viper is pretty expensive. Is there a more economical, good quality remote starter available? I'm interested in this too but I don't want to spend $500 or more on a remote starter.

None of them are cheap. The better the range, the more the price seems to be.

My Valet 562T works great... about 100yds range.. utilizes my wait to start light, use 1 auxillary for high idle, 1 auxillary for exhaust brake..

I can have it pretty toasty pretty quick in there in the winter with the high idle and exhaust brake going.

Bought the mopar one. Comes with a 1 year warranty through the dealership and is pretty much plug and play.

Autopage works great. It will even page you if the alarm goes off

AutoPage has this Model...

AUTOPAGEŽ RS-900LCD
6-CHANNEL ALARM SYSTEM w/ REMOTE CAR STARTER and 2-WAY LCD REMOTE PAGER

It has Remote Start, Turbo Timer, 2-way... Pretty awesome deal. I also came across another one from a subsidy of Metra that makes one similiar but much cheaper.

X-SHIELD XS-900S CAR ALARM & BUILT IN REMOTE START

This one also has built in Turbo timer, almost identical to the AutoPage in features, but very economical.

Do a search in google as well as Ebay.
