Regearing?

Well, I took ye' ol' beast out to the track tonight and was saddened by it's performance. With the 35" tires with a 4hi launch it pulled a 2.33\7s 60' and a 15.126 @ 92mph. Thinking it was a fluke, I ran again, and once again, 2.33s 60', 15.124 @ 92mph. I really don't want to have to put small tires back on to go fast, so I'm looking for 4.10 gears for my axles. Are they available to the public yet? I had really wanted to wait for ARB to come out with a new front diff and have that installed at the same time, but I'm sure my tranny will hate me less with 4.10 gears pushing these tires around. Will the 4.10's and 35" tires be around the same ratio as 3.73's and the 265/70 tires the truck comes with stock?

More power/drivetrain mods are cheaper than 4:10's. Or you two could swap axles?

4.10's with 35's works out similar to 3.73's with 265's.

I agree, you are better off with upgrading your tranny. Once your tranny hooks up you won't wan't the 4.10's. Seems like the more HP gus run the taller the gearing. For example. the "mad dog" ford truck with a cummins runs 3.54's and he's pushig well over 800hp. A ring and pinion install will cost you $1000 if not more for two axles. Thats not including a better posi-traction or lockers.

I can get 4.56 gears installed for a grand total of $1,200 for f/r. I plan on eventually getting to 40" tires, so that seems about right.

40 inch tires would be aswesome! I'm sure you would be still be very fast. A fast truck is cool but I would like the 40 inch tires better.

I went ahead and ordered 'em. They're on backorder, but they'll come in on the 15th, and be installed on the 16th.
