Rear tire wear
Rear tire wear
I can't keep rear tires on my quad cab 4 X 4. They wear evenly across but the tread blocks have a slight edge. I now have a set of Michelins with a 70,000 mile tread life that are completely worn with 8500 miles on them. I am the truck's only driver so I know the tires are not abused. This is the second set. Could the stock locking rear be doing this??
Noop, I have seen post on here where they have rolled out of the factory with issues. We have no clutches or a locker in our AAM axles. It is a viscous type.

I never saw one out of alignment and I've had, or been around a bunch. But he did say the first set ran normal.
06 Are these 10 ply or 6 ply? It almost sounds like you have the wrong grade. You need load range E
The truck has been checked for broken spring center bolts, tracking, bent frame, etc. The truck is fine in those respects. I did change the fluidin the rear and used the correct MOPAR synthetic fluid. The wear is even across the tires and the tires are the proper 10ply tires. In fact the current tires whixch are wearing the worse at Michelins that were available as factory installed tires.
I forgot to mention that the first set of BFGs did not last much over 20,00 miles and the next set of MIchelins were no better. The current set of Michelins is the third set of tires on thetruck which only has 58,000 miles on it.
No, the first set was replaced at about 20,000 miles because of defective side walls but the tread was shot also. The second set were Michelins but a different model then the ones on the truck now. They did not last much more than 20,000 miles.
