I have an 06 Dodge 3500 Single rear wheel short box. There have been a lot of people telling me that a rear sway bar inproves the handeling on or off highway, with or without a load. I very rarely tow if at all. Would I be waisting my time and money, or do they really make that big of a difference for all around handeling??? Please let me know.

 

Yes they would help. It just controls body roll. But off road they are a hinderence if you are get any articulation you wont.

I think I might add one to see how it is for lateral forces on a raod course. The flatter you can stay the better to some extent.

 

I do almost all highway driving. I have 35's on my truck and even with 20's, it still feels like there is a lot of roll to it. If it will help, I will get one.

 

I dont think they are very pricey. I would check with the road racers to find a good company. Im sure most of it is finding a larger diameter bar.

You can go to darn near any place on the net and find them. There between $200 and $350. If it isn't going to help that much, I could use the $350 toward a FASS or injectores, ya know.

What diameter is the helwig? Does it add to the stiffness at all?

 

1.125 I think is the diamater. Not sure. Does that sound right?? So far, it sounds like they are worth the few hundred bucks. I'll probably just get one.

Hellwig has been around a while and sells alot of truck accessories. But then again back in the day Dick cepeck sold alot and then came the big lawsuit. Who knows I would think they all would be the same with the exception of the material that the bushings are made of.

 

I think I will buy one right now. When I do tow, its a 39ft Montana 5th wheel. It's only about once a year, but I think it would help. You sold me.

 

Get some air bags and they'll help a lot with body roll...and help to keep the truck level under any load. Just be sure they're plumbed independently.

 

Independently, as in being able to control them seperatly???

 

I have heard very bad things about Ride Rite setups from several different experts. They have all told me that with that setup, you are putting too much weight on that small of an area. People are having frame and spring issues. Don't really know much more than that. Any thoughts?
