my max EGT with twins no water meth at 500hp is 1350... with meth right around 1250...

towing with things turned down or off is no big deal at all without water/meth... twins do a very good job cooling things down, however, if I want to put a little more power to my climbs or onramp acceleration or whatever the water/meth will allow for higher smarty/tst settings while still keeping towing egts in check... for me while towing in check is below 1200* water/meth gets me there no problem...

ps my average load is right around 15k but ranges from 4k to 30k

Although you have a completely different set up and there really is no comparison to my truck. It is nice to know that water meth works for towing.

One of my big questions (soon to be answered) is: For those guys out there with new trucks NOT looking to purchase programmers or bigger turbo's/twins "which is the bigger bang for the buck for towing?" Keeping in mind that most people are towing 10K lbs. - 20K lbs with a GCVW of 16 -25K lbs.

Lets face it, most people purchasing a new diesel truck are using them for towing TT or 5rs, some with campers and car trailers, most of which meet the range of 16-25K lbs GCVW. Those that are dragging and sled pulling have completely different goals and needs.

I plan on loading my truck down when I first get the water/meth and running the truck in stock mode, levels 1,2,3 on the Edge programmer to test. I am curious to know? Did I really need to spend the money on a programmer? Will the water/meth have done the trick by itself? Keep in mind my goal: 1) To be able to run 6%-8% grades with 19K lbs GCVW at 65-70mph and not exceed 1250 EGT's. 2) To balance enough HP/Torque to do the job and not eat an auto transmission.

I would definately say that for the majority of us out there doing everyday towing, the purchase of cold air intake and opening the exhaust is a must. Everything else is relavent to the goals of the driver.
