Thumbs up Quadzilla boost fooler

I installed a quadzilla boost fooler before our new years camping trip. The results were amazing to say the least. First, I have an afe torque tube, amsoil drop in, PSM cold air intake, and an MBRP muffler. Before the fooler I would struggle to keep my EGT's in check at my usual gross weight of around 26k - 28k, always pushing 1375-1400 and letting off to keep it under 1350 for the hills. Same hills as always and driving harder up the hills than usual I couldn't get it any higher than 1300! If I drove the usual 55-60 up the hills, held right at 1200 - 1250!!! Max boost I saw on the gauge on the trip was 36 or so. I would HIGHLY recommend this to anyone struggling with EGT's while towing!

That's pretty cool. So, do you like all your other mods too?

Ya i agree its a nice upgrade for the money. It works very well with a tuner, i believe that was its intent. Add a tuner later and notice more top end power and still that great drop in temp.

As far as the other mods, I like the MBRP setup because it is a bolt on muffler, no welding. The intake is a true cold air setup, something most other intakes don't offer. Seeya...

Did you notice any difference in power, or just cooler? I really dont like how hot this truck runs, It is really steep hills around here and I always have to work to keep the temps below 1300. This sounds like a very good option now though, would have done it sooner but I asked a BD guy at a dyno day if it would help my stock truck, and he said no, just for high HP trucks?!

Thanks, Matt

Id say your going to see a nice drop in temps and some power gain from a stock truck, but with a tuner the power from the B.F. will be more due to that you are supplying all that extra boost with increased fuel.

Is a boost fooler detectable if removed by the dealer? I really dont want to give my dealer any ammunition for a warranty denial. If there was a slight increase in power over stock it would be a bonus for sure, but the egt drop would be worth it for engine longetivity. Anybody else with a boost fooler on a stock truck notice any performance gains?

Thanks, Matt

Not detectable, its just a resistor in a black box. The wastegate on the 04.5 and up trucks are fully electronic so the B.F. just simply keeps it shut so you will build more boost. With that extra air you will see sig. drop in temp. Add some fuel later along with that extra air and it shines even more. Our trucks were made to run 30 psi. this is were the w.g. opens and also defuels, this resistor just prevents this. Its a very good part for the money IMO

How would this option be on a Twin Turbo rig? Artic Air twins, Edge and a Dr. Perf module as far as fueling. Pulling a heavy load up the hills, the temps still get up there. Esp. when Im running it really hard.
