Any variation of the Donaldson/Nelson/Walker big truck mufflers....

LOTS of guys including myself have the 51" Donaldson which is a 4" in/out straight-thru free-flowing muffler that really quiets the truck down but still has a nice deep mellow tone...

When I installed mine...I lost a touch of top-end pull but gained a some bottom-end so it was a good trade-off. I had an Aero 4040 muffler before that which was almost just like having straight pipe....very loud and lots of drone!

You also might try muffler delete and leave your CAT on...heard that works too...

i ran a 51" donaldson, i knocked the baffle out alittle and it was fine at highway speeds- no real drone. sounded pretty good too.

In 4" it would be a Magnaflow, it's stainless steel. Better quality then most.

I got the 5" straight through donaldson 51" muffler then some reduction couplers to knock it down to the 4" pipe i have. im pretty happy with the sound most drone is gone. i have a just a touch of drove at highway speed but i think that might be partially my tip and and partially a hanger for the pipe pressed up on something somewhere.

Overall the deep tone is still there off the line but once im in the throttle or towing with the truck the noise is greatly reduced most of what i hear now is from unde r the hood

I've got the Magnaflow and like it much better than the drone-can MBRP that it replaced. But I think I'd still like it to be a little quieter.

Never heard of them.

I thought about placing my old MBRP inline with my Magnaflow and see if that helps a bit.

FWIW, I replaced my stock one with an MBRP replacement. Also left cat.
THe sound level in the cab isnt much more than stock and I havent noticed any drone on the freeway.

Not cheerleading, but i recently had this flo-pro twister muffler installed, and I really like the tone, has a perfect note to it, so I 've been letting everyone know.

I will let you know how the 51" Donaldson sounds. I just finished installing this to replace my Silverline muffler. I installed the Silverline 5" last fall and the tone is just to load for everyday driving for me. It is really that 2000rpm tone that is the killer. If I drive below 2000rpm it is fine. Well off to eat some lunch and then take a drive.

Get a 51" Nelson or Donaldson.
I wanted it a little louder and went with a 40" Nelson, pics and part no. in my gallery.

Donaldson 51

Another vote for Donaldson or Nelson here. I had a Dynomax straight through muffler first and the only thing it was good for was setting off car alarms and giving you headaches on long trips. Installed the 51 Donaldson in its place and love it! A little louder than stock, you can hear the turbo through it, and it has a little growl on the top end and no drone.
