questions on edge ez and fuel mileage
questions on edge ez and fuel mileage
I have a 2003 3500 srw 4x4, 48RE. I was wondering if I was to put an edge ez on it would it help my fuel mileage if I keep my foot out of it. I'm hoping my mileage comes up with summer fuel but I'd also like have any increase I can get as fuel prices keep climbing. Right now I"m averging 15.5 with 50/50 city and rural highway (60mph). I was hoping for better but I also haven't pulled anything yet to really break it in and it only have 10,000 miles on the odo.
Will the edge or any of the other $400-$500 programers increase mileage 2mpg or better?

My mileage is better now at 42,000+ miles than it was before I put the EZ on at about 16,000 miles. I don't know if that is because of the EZ or because the motor wasn't broken in yet.
I'm seeing about 18.5 city and 21-22 highway (unloaded). Back before I got the EZ I was seeing about 16-17 city and around 20 highway.
Edge CLAIMS the EZ will increase your mileage by 10% if you keep your foot out of it....but who does that??

mine added around 2mpg. i dont NEED to put my foot in it anymore. before i would run the truck hard accellerating. with the edge i dont think i ever go over 2400RPM accellerating because it pulls so hard. Point being, your foot doesnt NEED to be in it with the edge because at half throttle it will have as much power as it used to have at FULL throttle

My dad has the 04 CTD and the Edge ez chip helped the power out a lot and he averages about 18 around town. His truck now has 11,000 miles on it and it's a short bed quad cab 4x4 with auto trans. I have the same truck in an '05 and I was averageing 13 around town on the first tank of fuel and then I put the Edge Juice with Attitude chip in and get around 15 mpg in town and I have just under 1000 miles on the truck. I like the chip but I dont like how my auto trans shifts.
