Quad Xzt Question

after installing my xzt i now have a slight surge in rpm a couple seconds after starting the truck, its kind of like the motor has a hiccup. seems like it loses fuel for a fraction of a second. is this normal?

Haven't had any problems with mine. Double check all of the connections. Check for codes. To do that you turn key on/off (not cranking) 4 times ending in the on position. Any codes will be listed in the odo screen.

After you start thr truck the xzt finishes going through its light cycle and actually then goes into mode with the mode led. Thats probably when you hear your truck change if you watch the lights on the box. Mine does it, but its really very subtle. Which xzt do you have?

Mine does the same thing as well...its very subtle and quick but you notice it. Its just like you say....seems like the truck loses fuel for a second.

Seems like if I give the box time to go through its light cycle, it doesnt do it. Which is about a second or two longer than the "Wait to Start" light...

So is there different quad xzt boxes, one for stacking with other chips/programmers, one for all by itself. I am fairly new to this diesel stuff and have been highly interested in something around the 60hp range. I would like the edge juice with attitude but people have told me that my 2007 clutch will not hold the attitude on level 5, and I do have to admit that if the power is available I will use it. Anyone have any info on that as well. And any suggestions to which chip to use for about 60hp gain, thats all I intend on doing. I was also wondering how people like the edge ez and the quad xzt in comparison. Sorry to hijack your thread. Joe

Try this, turn on the key and watch the box till it cycles all the lights and then stays on one color solid. Then start the truck and see if it still does it.

I was having the same issue on occasion, and this solved my problem.

I've had both...used the EZ for around 25k miles and really liked it. Honestly, the only advantage the EZ had that I liked over my XZT was the being able to adjust power levels. Other than that, so far I like my XZT WAY MORE...the power is stronger/smoother right off the bottom end. Throttle response is way better with the XZT than with the EZ...

Also...from what I've read and been told by various sources....the XZT is not as hard on your injectors but thats hear say
