quad race vs. mp8 ???
the mp8 is infinantly adjustable and they both do boost fooling.
The mp8 doesnt do direct timeing and is only pressure where the quad has some timeing and maybe even a little duration, but I could be wrong about the duration.

Both are adjustable on the fly. Quad race is 130 hp, Mp-8 is 100 horsepower. Both stack well with a Smarty. We will see on May 19th which one stacks better with the smarty. I will post results.
I have had the MP8 for a while now, but this is the 3rd time i am going to have to send it in for repair. I am seriously thinking of trying the quad. Does it have the same type of connections as the MP8?
Yes.
FWIW, I had a quad before and had problems with it, but I got great customer service. The only reason I sold it was I didnt want to try and stack it and this was before "no timing" tunes where avavilable so I bought a USED mp8 and have had zero problems with it.
I am not saying one is better than the other, but no matter what brand of parts (or anything for that matter) there is always going to be some margin of error.

from what i have read, the MP8 is very aggressive when it comes to rail pressure. I was thinking that maybe the quad would be a bit easier on the motor being that it is not relying solely on pressure to make the power. This sound right or am i way off on this one?
I cant say you are right or wrong, but niether one is "easy" on the motor. With nothin but a quad on my truck my relief valve was leakin fuel down on the rail. I dont know if this was quad realated but about 30,000 miles later with an mp8,tst, and modded FCA I blew the rv all together.
Niether box has direct timing or duration control. Look where they connect. Indirect effects to timing and duration work just fine...but are limited somewhat to ther effectiveness.
Both are great options...they just skin the cat a little different.
For me...the MP-8 was best for me.

Not much...
In short...they both manipulate pressure sensor and MAP sensor readings to make power.
The ECM will change duration and timing based on what pressure sensor and MAP readings it sees...that is the indirect effect.

I've had a quad box and loved it but my cb would interfear(made truck run weird and thow codes) so had to get rid of it. A freind of mine is going to let me try his mp-8 to see if the cb has the same effect. Hope not cause then I'll be looking at a smarty. Which means alot more side jobs to save up.
So, if the Quad Race alters the fuel pressure & MAP pressure readings to the ECM, the Smarty odd # SWs will add too much direct timing "code" to the fuel map to work with the indirect timing that the Quad causes... since the Smarty doesn't know that it's receiving "inaccurate" data due to the Quad's manipulation of the sensor readings... right?
