Qiuckest spooling single

Does anyone make a single turbo that spools faster than a stock for a 3rd gen?

My ATS a2k is considerably faster than the stock 03 turbo and I've read the 03 stocker was faster than yours but had other limitations. ATS made improvements to the a3k and stopped selling the a2k shortly after I got mine. They say the improved a3k spools as fast as the old a2k and will support about another 100hp. I like mine a lot. It has a huge turbine but doesn't need a wastegate. I don't know how they get such good response out of the big turbine. There's other fast turbos but I haven't used any others to compare. Craig

BD has one. Do a search. I think it is the Super B.

Or better yet, go with a Garrett bail bearing turbo.

If you are just looking for a turbo, and that's it, then I can't help you very much.

I will tell you that a turbo spools in preportion to how much fuel it gets... when I added my injectors, it made my single spool as good as stock. You could look at a little bigger turbo and some sticks.

Just throwing my experience in there...

I found two things that help to spool faster. Less torque management and if I roll down the skinny pedal and not stomp down hard.

Maybe from 10lbs to 40+ its faster than stock but I find it hard to believe from 0 lbs to full boost its quicker. My turbo is smaller than yours and its not as quick as stock.

I had the BD Super B as a single, and it was quicker than stock for spool up, but if money is no issue Garrett ball bearing turbos would be another option. But like Madhat said with the right set up of sticks and fueling you can get pretty quick spool up out of even a larger unit.

I can believe this. A lot of it has to do with the combination of parts, to include injectors, and programming. A major one that is often overlooked is the torque converter.

Although I don't remember how the stock turbo spools, my 64 spools 150 RPM faster than my Silver 62 and I had the Silver spooling fast. With what I have on it now I see boost when the truck starts to move and it's full on ready to go at 1400.

PM sent...

That HTT model falls in between a Garrett gt3788r stage 3 and a gt4094r.

I'm running a Stage 2 Garrett turbo it spools faster than stock and starts to spool eariler, which for daily driving or towing is a huge plus although I am limited to between 450-500 Hp.

The price Tom @ TURBO RESOURCE sells them for is about the same as conventional turbos. Plus it fits your down pipe!
