Putting together a trans part list need a bit of info.
Ok here is what I do, daily driver, work truck, tows 12-14k 1-3 times a week. I do construction so some times I tow allot and others not much. I have a 500 hp awd stealth and 170hp Busa. So I get my speed fix from them.
Predator on either performance or extreme, that brings up my first question. If I run extreme and my egts stay in safe range while towing (using right foot to regulate) and my trans holds the power would there be a issue towing 14k in extreme mode?? Timing, pressure ect...
Second question I will only ever run a max of extreme mode on the pred, I have no need for more power then that. Thats prob 330-350 hp and maybe 650-700 lbs of tq.
If I put a good converter, something made just for pulling (insert best converter here) and replace the actuators with billet, upgrade the clutches and steels and put a hd 2nd band in would I need a vb?? Trans has 113k on it so I just want to rebuild this winter. I like the way it shifts now and my thinking is if I am not doing WOT loaded shifts then I have no need to shift faster or harder. Thinking maybe just bumping the pressure up some.
I just dont want it banging gears all the time as I put allot of miles a year on the truck, about 11k in 6 months so far.
So to sum it up, With a max of 700lbs of tq pulling 14k once in awhile would a good converter be enough without a vb. And what converter is really good for towing, I hear georend is great I want something super tight maybe 90% efficient for city driving. Its not the money its the fear of banging gears ever shift. Thanks all

Leave a message with Dave Goerend and wait for him to call you back - he will but it might be a couple days. Tell him everything you just posted here, and he will not mislead you. He is one of a few out there that will only sell you what you need instead of recommending a bunch of expensive parts or parts that are a generic application for all trucks. He will build a VB and/or TC to meet your needs and wants.
