Thumbs up Put my truck on the dyno today

Well today I took my truck down to the new SuperFlo dyno in Greeley to try out these new Don M injectors, and all I can say is "WOW" these things rock. Back in February I dynoed and I was only able to muster 460hp with stock injectors if I remember right, and today my best reading was 593.9hp and 1143.9 torque these are corrected numbers. I am still grinning from ear to ear. Thanks Don M for a top notch injector and Laser Bob for a great install, I cant wait to see what I put down with these new twins. Mike

So you picked up 130 hp from a 40 hp injector?

The only difference between my last dyno to this one is these injectors and I had my TST box reflashed with the twins program so I would say yes. From what I understand the 40 to 60 hp is on a stock truck, when you start adding fueling/duration boxes the number multiplies.

Mike, Wow.......sounds like you have an awesome truck! Congratulations on your numbers. I would love to put some engine mods like that on my truck, but without the Tranny mods.....im afraid I would toast it. Guess I will stick with the EZ only until then. Maybe if I am a good boy Santa will bring me a DTT Tranny next Dec!

Did you have the sledpuller turbo last dyno run?

Yes, the only changes are the injectors and the reflash.

Mike's Face

You should have seen the look on Mike's face when we tried repeatedly to get good numbers and only got about 400 out of it.

We were about to call it a day and go home sad, when Dgrizz found an intercooler boot off so bad you could not hear it whistle. We had just cleared off the dyno and were dejected, but this gave us new life and we went back in to see what the SuperFlow Lie Detector had to say.

Now Mike is

Mike left to go home and called to report.
I think his words left on my phone were "This thing ROCKS!"

Mike could add a line in his sig "smokes like a 12valve w/370's & 0 plate"

Now we need the extra air that will be here soon. We are going to import some increased air flow for this lackluster truck.

Mike,

I bet you guys were cussin' when it would only make 400? I would have been. I cant tell ya the number of times I have done something like that myself. Thats why I dont work on peoples trucks much. It keeps me out of trouble. LOL

Congrats on the numbers! Not bad for a single turbo.

Hopefully the smoke will subside some after the twins. I made the injectors a little on the big side for the twins, if needed later on we can tone them down some. You can always turn the TST up if needed. At 5000 feet we might need some tweaks to optimize them.

I can confirm the TST twins/hot version program is much hotter on level 4/4 than the normal version on 8/8. We tested that several times.

As much as I would love to take the credit for the 130 HP, it is more than that. 2 of your 6 injectors had internal troubles I had to fix to get them back up to par. The higher pressure from the EZ had chewed them up!! A common trouble I find frequently in injectors that have had a pressure box used on the higher settings.
When I first began disassembling them I found the first 4 to be perfect. I was writing the notes down and wrote "these are the first injectors I have seen without damage from high pressure settings" I was actually looking at them under a microscope trying to figure out how you escaped it. After the 5th and 6th injectors were disassembled, I scratched that note out and stopped looking for a reason.

I suggest keeping the pressure turned down for extended periods and actually in most cases the injectors run better with the TST on higher levels and lower pressure like level 1 on the EZ.

Once we get our pressure and timing box finished up and add that to the Flux injectors and Marks TST box as a package, nothing will out power it!

Don,

Thanks for the cool parts and the fast turn around. Mike is a smilin' guy. I felt better when we found the leak. I had looked over everything several times and still missed it. You wouldn't think it could happen, but IT CAN be missed.

One of the teachers I have had in this diesel business said early on in my training, "when you think you are done, check everything with your fingers one more time". He is right. I have been trying to find something he missed, but not yet. I'm still looking, Bill.

Don, I like your "get a helmet"

Don,

My local dealer has a couple of sets of '03 injectors that have broken tips due to having gas run through them instead of diesel. What other damage might have occured other than the broken tips? Are they worth taking a look at internally for tip transplants? If so I'll grab you a set to inspect.

Hey Mike,

Wow, that's alot of HP/torque!

I'm curious how much it cost to bring the truck upto that level?

600HP, man you must be able to burn those tire right off the rims.

Wow.

I have no clue what would happen if gasoline went through them. It cant be good. I would say the pump would puke and send little chunks of love into the injectors at the same time. I would label those as KIA and unrepairable.

During some bench testing we got several CP-1 and CP-2 pumps to puke parts. Over 1800 bar would roach them in short order. Once it happened the injectors would die in less than 10 minutes. The CP-3 is slightly better, but gasoline with its low lubricity sounds very bad for their health, IMO.

Interested in looking at a set of them?

Forgot to ask. I'm assuming the Flux models will work equally well with any duration box such as the VA, correct?
