Put exhaust and intake on

I put the exhaust on last weekend and the intake on this past Sat. The exhaust I got was the MBRP 4" turbo back SS with a 5" tip. Sounds awesome. Sounds really deep but not to loud. Looks great too. Took 45 mins to cut stock off and put MBRP on. The intake I went with was the AFE Stage 2 with the Pro Guard 7 filter. Also sounds awesome. The intake makes it sound like a small personal jet. Noticed a big difference in acceleration and power with exhaust. Havent really noticed anything but sound with the intake. But I only had it on for a day so far. Overall very pleased with both. Next mods are Programmer and gauges.

What? Are you serious? More air in/more air out = more power, quicker spooling, etc.....

I've changed to flo through mufflers on my 03 and 05, and use an oiled filter. I believe my truck runs a bit cooler when I'm pulling, and they sound a bit more mellow- I didn't really notice a big difference in power or acceleration. I don't have a programmer or chip on my truck(s), however. It is a "serious" question. I have read many posts on many threads that say flow through or straight pipe gave slight gain/ slight loss- most say no noticable difference, until they install a programmer. I'm not disagreeing at all, but I would like a mechanic- type person to explain if freer flowing air on a diesel alone (no progamer) will actually make a big difference in power, and why?

I think the increase in power feeling is due to a quicker spooling turbo. Without the restriction from either end it spins easier. You may pick up a few hp in the lower rpms due that fact, but IMO peak hp is uneffected.

I'd agree with that LOL! When I changed out the muffler, the first thing I was doing was stepping on it to hear how it sounds, and how much more turbo sound there was.
