Pull the pillar?

The instructions for my Xmonitor tell me to pull the a-pillar cover to attach the display unit. I can see how that would make it easy to drill some holes to attach the display. My question:

How hard is it to pull, then replace that cover? There are two plugs by the grab handle and I assume there are bolts under them. Do they just pry out and pop back in? Is there anything else holding it in place? If so, how do I get it out without breaking something?

Once it's pulled out, how hard is it to get back in (and looking like it never came out).

THANKS!

Very easy to do. A small screw driver will pry up those plugs on the pillar just fine...be careful though not to scratch the plastic when doing this, its very soft. Remove the two screws under the plugs, then grab the handle and give it a gentle pull. There are some small clips on the back side of the pillar that help hold it in place, but they will come right out when you gently pull on the handle. Reverse order to put the pillar back on. It will slip right back into place....plugs pop right back in. Have FUN!

I did not remove my A-pillar when I installed my X-Monitor, I don't see why you would need to.

The instructions say to pull the pillar to ease install, but you can do it without pulling the pillar. After a quick dry fit, it looks like you'd want to drill two holes in the pilllar right at the windshield. With the pillar in that would be hard. With the whole assembly out it would be a snap.

I never removed my A pillar cover to install the X-Monitor. Never had any trouble drilling the holes either. Had my wife hold it in position while I did the drilling. Also just ran my wires out the bottom and tucked them into the crack between the dash and A pillar. There is edging on the dash you need to be aware of.

I found it a little easier to remove/install my pillar (put in the SRT-10 pillar to hold a single gauge) by first removing the door weatherstripping from the area. It just pulls off.
